3. Dallas, TX – December 29, 2016 – Formed in March of 1996, Digestive Health Associates of Texas, and with
more than 30 locations covering a 100-mile radius, DHAT provides health care services for the entire Dallas or
Fort Worth Metroplex. The primary goal of DHAT physicians is to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient
care. Since its establishment, Digestive Health Associates of Texas, P.A., (DHAT) has grown to 81 physicians,
including five pediatric physicians, and has incorporated the talent of these prominent gastroenterologists to
deliver high-quality, cost-effective, community-based health care with access to quality patient care
unsurpassed in their area.
Speaking at a past event, their Lead Physician asserted, “All our physicians are Board Certified or Board
Eligible. By maintaining a staff of exceptional sub-specialists, DHAT is uniquely qualified to deliver services
supporting the full spectrum of an individual’s digestive healthcare. We offer Endoscopic ultrasonography
(EUS) which allows your doctor to examine the esophageal and stomach linings together with the walls of
your upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. The upper tract has the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum
while the lower tract includes your colon and rectum. EUS can also be used to study other organs that are
near the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver, lungs, pancreas and gall bladder.”
4. Their Endoscopists are highly trained professionals who welcome questions from the public regarding their
credentials, training, and experience. When offering treatment, the endoscopist uses a thin, flexible tube
known as an endoscope that has a built-in miniature ultrasound probe. The doctor will pass the endoscope
through the patient's mouth or anus to the area to be examined. The doctor then will use the ultrasound to
use sound waves to create visual images of the digestive tract.
The Lead Physician added, “EUS is also used to evaluate known abnormalities, including lumps or lesions,
which had been detected at a prior endoscopy or had been seen on x-ray tests, such as a computed
tornography (CT) scan. EUS produces a detailed image of the lump or lesion, which will help your doctor
determine its origin and help make treatment decisions. It is possible also to use EUS to diagnose diseases of
the bile duct, pancreas, and gallbladder especially when other tests are inconclusive or conflicting. Visit us if
you are looking for Endoscopic Ultrasonography services.”
5. EUS helps the doctor determine the extent of spread of certain cancers of the respiratory and
digestive systems. EUS allows the doctor to assess the depth of the cancer accurately and whether
it has spread to adjacent lymph glands or nearby vital structures, like major blood vessels. In some
cases, EUS is be used to obtain a needle biopsy of a lump or lesion to help the doctor determine the
proper treatment. For EUS of the upper gastrointestinal tract, a patient should have nothing to eat
or drink, usually for six hours before the examination. The doctor will disclose to the patient when
to start this fasting and whether it is advisable to take the regular prescription medications.
