Problem being attempted to change:
To change the mentality of the villagers living nearby school & in
the village regarding the Water Pollution. And to generate
awareness in community about the Importance of Water at
personal level & surroundings
3. Introduction
• Bharti Foundation
– Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.
– The prime objective is to bridge the existing education divide and make quality
education accessible to underprivileged children in rural India.
– The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country
realize their potential.
• Satya Bharti School Program
– The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation.
– It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus
on the girl child across rural India.
– Present Operational Status:
• Number of Schools Operational: 254
• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh &
Tamil Nadu
• Number of Students Enrolled: Over 32,000
4. About the Community
• Geographical Location: The Village Sadul Nagar is situated in a remote
area nearly 130kms away from Jodhpur District. It is situated in the midst of
sand dunes & 30 kms. inside from NH 114 Jodhpur-Jaisalmer Highway.
• Cultural Background: - There is Rajput, Bishnoi, Meghwal, Prajapat &
Suthar, Jat etc. castes in Sadul Nagar. Dominating caste is Rajput. Main
resources of livelihood are farming & animal husbandry. Only 40% community
is literate. Orthodox families having strong belief in traditions & customs.
• Role of Satya Bharti School in the Village: The school has worked as
changing in attitude towards education especially for girl child. We organizes
PTMs & community development campaigns in which we not only discuss on
the development of students but also generate awareness about education,
health & hygiene, environmental awareness & other social burning issues etc.
5. Students ‘Felt’:
Students of our school see wastage and pollution of
water on daily basis in village or nearby house.
They asked us how to save water from pollution and
wastage.
We also felt the Water Pollution in the village. This all
made us to think that we can run a campaign
regarding the Save Water from Pollution and make
understand the community and villagers about the
Importance of Water in our daily life.
6. We ‘Imagined’:
• Disease free & healthy community
• Students won’t miss due schools due
to sickness
• Community will understand the
importance of Water in their Daily Life
• Creating awareness among
community and villagers how to save
water from pollution & keep them
clean or their surroundings
7. We ‘Did’:
• We create some posters & charts
showing water pollution in
sources of water in surrounding
of village
• We organized street plays,
rallies & also contributed in
cleaning the water tanks &
other areas with the help of our
teachers.
8. We ‘Did’:
• The most important thing we did was that we made door to door visits and
explain them about the importance of water & how to save water from
Pollution. Even though it was little challenging but we convinced them &
held meetings separately at School and Gram Panchyat.
9. Impact on Us, Teachers & Community:
• Through this campaign with the
help of students & teachers we
come to know about the
importance of water. In some of
the area or water sources there
were instant impact. We were
feeling proud & also praised &
thanked them for taking initiative
on there own. While we cleaning
some areas where water collects
our teachers also joined us.
10. Experience of Community Members & Teachers:
Gaje Singh Head Teacher – “It was really great time & also quiet
challenging that we entered in the community & found cleanliness
& telling them how to save water from pollution and also safety our
water sources surrounding us.
Bhanwar Puri Gosawami (Villager) – “I have never thought that water
is so important in our daily life. We also ensure that we have make
boundaries surrounding the different water sources for our villages.
I Thanks to little kids that they have generated awareness among
us through various plays & slogans.”
