A melody in music is a group of notes of various pitches (How high or low a note
sounds) which are played one after another. Together they make a tune in the same
way that a group of words make a sentence. Some people like to sing melodies.
Melodies have rhythm (the length of the notes) and it must have a musical sense.
Soprano
A soprano is a female singer with a high voice. Madonna is a soprano singer.
Mezzo-soprano
A mezzo-soprano is a female singer whose voice is a little lower than that of a
soprano but not low enough to be called a contralto. Marta Sánchez is a Spanish pop
mezzo-soprano singer.
Contralto
Females with lower voices are called contralto. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (born 21
May 1988 in Tottenham , London ) is an English soul and jazz contralto singer.
Woodwind instruments
The Woodwind family contains instruments which are made of wood. Some of them,
such as flutes or saxophones, are now made of other materials, but they were once
made of wood, so they are still classified as woodwind instruments. Woodwind
instruments produce sound when a player blows into the instrument, causing a
column of air that vibrates inside it.
Brass instruments
Brass instruments are wind instruments made of metal materials, such as brass or
copper. Each instrument has a mouthpiece, a metallic tube and a bell. The sound is
produced by the vibration of the lips in the mouthpiece.
