K/OSH Presentations/Template This presentation reports results from an air monitoring study conducted in public venues in Hungary in 2008. The air monitoring equipment used assess the amount of small particles, below 2.5 microns, found in the environment. The inhalation of small particles is correlated with adverse respiratory and cardiac health outcomes. Tobacco smoke consists mainly of small particles, below 2.5 microns, and is thus the number one source of indoor air pollution. This study compares the level of indoor air pollution in locations in Hungary where smoking was observed with levels found outdoors and in indoor locations where smoking was not present.
