Having your own website or blog in the new business economy is vital if you really are serious about
growing your business and reaching more and more clients. Though it is not the best things to say many
people are actually suspicious if people don’t have a website that they can actually find as well. I am
sure there are many reasons for that including the latest hot thing that is seo and reputation
management.
In honesty I am guilty myself in going straight to the search engines to find out about possible suppliers
or potential employees. Maybe that is the subject for another post later in the week.
Having an online presence in all its many forms helps people have access to information about you and
the services you provide. Without having to talk to you initially. I know it seems strange. Some people
are scared stiff that they will be sold to straight away!
Perhaps you already have a presence online or are thinking about adding another site to your business.
So here the subject of good domain names is worth a mention.
There are a number of schools of thought on great domain names. Some people recommend having it
closey linked to the service you deliver. Let’s look at our own example. So for us we might have a site

cumbria. All of these are linked to just some of what we do in a specific geographical area.
Now if you are building a long term sustainable business you might want to go for a branding option. For
instance Nike is now linked totally to sports and sports clothing. That was a decision they took. It has

them what you want and what you want your site to do for you. Always link it to your overall business
objectives. Think outside the box is there anything you can sell from your site? Could you produce a
digital product that gives great information? It can depend on your area of expertise and you might just
be surprised at what is possible.
