3. What does sustainable mean?
“Sustainable development
is development that meets
the needs of the present
without compromising
the ability of future generations
to meet their own needs”
Brundtland
Politician and sustainable development leader

4. We still lack the know-how and technologies to be 100%
sustainable; but we are already doing a great deal and
we can
Move Forward
by reducing the water consumption
required for treating garments
by reducing the temperatures,
required energy and co2 emissions
By using chemicals with lower
environmental impact
4
5. Water
We can reduce water consumption by combining a range of production processes:
STONE WASH + BIO-BLEACH
Saves at least 24 lt. per garment
(2 rinses r.b. 1/10 + bleach r.b. 1/10)
NEUTRALIZATION + DESIZING
Saves at least 16 lt. per garment
(neutralization r.b. 1/10 + rinse r.b. 1/10)
NEUTRALIZATION + STONE WASH
Saves at least 16 lt. per garment
(neutralization r.b. 1/10 + rinse r.b. 1/10)
SOFTENER + BIO-POLISHING
Saves at least 16 lt. per garment
(bio-polishing r.b. 1/10 + rinse r.b. 1/10)
5
6. SOFTENER SPRAY
Saves at least 4 lt. of water per garment
DIRECT DYEING + BIO-POLISHING
Saves at least 16 lt. per garment
(bio-polishing r.b. 1/10 + rinse r.b. 1/10)
REACTIVE DYEING + BIO-POLISHING
Saves at least 16 lt. per garment
(bio-polishing r.b. 1/10 + rinse r.b. 1/10)
PIGMENTS DYEING + BIO-POLISHING
Saves at least 16 lt. per garment
(bio-polishing r.b. 1/10 + rinse r.b. 1/10)

7. Temperature – Energy – CO2
A 10°C reduction in a process may not seem such an extraordinary
result but let’s analyze it in terms of energy savings:
When an industrial washing machine is
loaded with 80 kg of garments, it consumes
500 liters of water every cycle.
To heat up 580 kg (water + garments) from
30 to 40°C, 5800 Kcal (6,75 kWh) are
needed (this calculation does not account
for the energy required to heat the
machine’s structure and maintain
temperature).
Using an efficient heater working at 80% of
yield, around 6600 Kcal (7,67 kWh) can be
obtained from 1 m3 of methane.
7
8. Raising the temperature of a single wash by 10°C means
MORE THAN 1m
OF METHANE 3
IS REQUIRED
NOT
burning 1m 3of methane
means
NOT EMITTING
1.9 kg.of CO2
into the atmosphere
8
9. Garmon & Bozzetto’s ECO-SUSTAINABLE process allows all production phases
to be carried out “cold” or at the lowest possible temperature.
COLD DESIZING
A saving of 35°C equal to 3.5 m3 of methane
and 6.65 Kg C02
STONE WASH AT 40°C
A saving of 15°C equal to 1.5 m3 of methane
and 2.85 Kg C02
BIO-POLISHING AT 40°C
A saving of 10°C equal to 1 m3 of methane
and 1.9 Kg C02
COLD BIO-BLEACH
A saving of 40°C equal to 4 m3 of methane
and 7.6 Kg C02
9
10. OVERDYEING AT 40°C
A saving of 20°C equal to 2 m3 of methane
and 3.8 Kg C02
COLD SOFTENING
A saving of 15°C equal to 1.5 m3 of methane
and 2.85 Kg C02
RESIN AT 90°C
By avoiding the curing phase at 140°C, we
save about 3 m3 of methane and the
equivalent of 5.7 Kg C02
DIRECT DYEING AT 60°C
A saving of 30°C equal to 3 m3 of methane
and 5.7 Kg C02
COLD PIGMENTS DYEING
A saving of 30°C equal to 3 m3 of methane
and 5.7 Kg C02

11. ECO-SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS
FOR LOW-TEMPERATURE PROCESSES
“Cold” desizing: DW LT series
Amilase enzyme for desizing, already active at 25°C
Stone Wash at 40°C: ATB NLT / ATB 96L
Formulated enzymatic (powders and liquid) already active
at 40°C.
Bio-polishing at 40°C: HIDROS TED
Formulated enzymatic liquid active at 40°C; it works at
neutral pH making it possible biopolishing on denim
garment.
“Cold” bio-bleach: REBIRD ECO-C
Laccase enzyme already active at 25°C; it can be used in
combination with a special stone-wash cellulase to get
stone washing and bio-bleaching processes in a single
step.
“Cold” softener: ELAM CLD - ELAM 256
softener already exaustible at 25°C
New nano-emulsion silicone base useable at 25°C.

12. ECO-SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS
FOR LOW-TEMPERATURE PROCESSES
Resin at 90°C: LEGAFINISH FAST
New resin system that avoid the polymerization step at 140°C;
in one single 90°C phase you can achieve drying and curing.
Does not contain formaldehyde.
Overdyeing at 40°C: NATURAL DIRTY/RUSTY L.
Overdyeing system at 40°C
Direct dyeing at 60°C: LINEX AS New
Dyeing system on resin at 60°C with direct dyestuff.
“Cold” Pigments Dyeing: LINEX PD
New cold pigments dyeing system avoids dirtying of
machinery and allows good results in term of dip shade.
The use in all processes of a special dispersing agent specifically active at low
temperatures such as FORTRES ECO 2 or FORTRES GSL
contributes to the full success of the treatments.
“Cold” means drawing on storage water without heat it.
