Ask Dad, He Knows.
I was first introduced to this slogan by Frank Capra in his film “It’s a Wonderful Life.” A
young George Bailey is faced with a challenging decision, and he does not know what to
do. He glances at a sign that reads: “Ask dad, he knows.”
We are often faced with doubt. We sometimes encounter fear. We often are plagued with
indecision. This phrase might just help us. Ask dad, He knows.
I woke up this morning to find that my daily Bible verse coincided with this phrase.
“
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we
ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for
words” (Romans 8:26).
Our Heavenly Father understands; therefore, we approach His throne.
“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that
they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what
you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:7-8).
When we face doubt concerning our ability to seek and save the lost: Ask Dad, He knows.
When we are not sure about the future for our family: Ask Dad, He Knows.
When we are unsure of the economy or our work situation: Ask Dad, He knows.
When we are weary and heavy laden: Ask Dad, He knows.
“All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except
the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son
chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you
rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and
you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew
11:27-30).
The father knows exactly what we need. This is why He has given us His son to be the an-
swer for the problem of sin and suffering.
Ask Dad, He Knows.
And Happy Father’s Day to all our earthly fathers!
