The hunt for Charles Allan Dyer now includes two southern Texas state parks.
Investigators received a report of a man matching Dyer’s description knocking on doors
Monday in the Wallis, Texas, area seeking a ride to Houston, according to information
provided by Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney. Investigators are searching the
area near Texas 36 along railroad tracks, which stretch all the way to Rosenberg, with the
search party fanning out to cover more ground. The area is near Brazos Bend State Park.
Federal investigators were first led to heavily wooded areas near Houston on Saturday
evening after the reported sighting of the fugitive. The Sealy News reported that searches
were initiated in San Felipe, east of Sealy, with the focus being on the Stephen F. Austin
State Park. Campers were evacuated from campgrounds as SWAT and FBI teams
searched the heavily wooded park area. The park area remained closed through Sunday.
By Sunday the search became focused in and around Sealy to its west. The FBI issued
a statement that information led investigators to the Sealy area, but did not elaborate
further.
Dyer, 31, has been missing since Aug. 15 when he failed to appear in Stephens County
District Court for his second trial on a charge of child sexual abuse and concealing stolen
property charges; a mistrial was declared during the first trial in April. A federal warrant for
unlawful flight to avoid prosecution has since been issued for Dyer.
Dyer has claimed that the assault charge is part of a conspiracy against him. Deborah
Swan, a woman whom law enforcement earlier said might be with him, believes Dyer.
Law enforcement and Swan have confirmed that she is the 39-year-old woman who
owns a 2000 silver GMC Yukon identified in a “be on the lookout” ( B O L O ) m e s s a g e
given to law e n f o r c e - ment last week.
“I do not know why she would have been r e m o v e d from the BOLO,” District Attorney
Jason Hicks said Monday.
Woman calls newspaper
Swan contacted The Lawton Constitution Sunday evening while, she said, she was
returning home — alone — from Florida to Texas.
2. Swan said she should be removed from the BOLO and said FBI and other law
enforcement agents rousted her Thursday morning while on vacation in Destin, Fla. En
route back to her home in Spring, Texas, which is about 30 miles north of Houston, Swan
said law enforcement should know by now that Dyer is not with her.
“They can follow me all they want,” Swan said. “They’re not going to find Charles Dyer
here.”
Attempts to contact Dyer have been unsuccessful, Swan said.
Swan said she first learned of Dyer via his online p o s t i n g s — Dyer’s Yo u Tu b e c h
a n n e l o f f e r e d v i d e o s t h a t l i n k e d him to the American M i l i t i a and Patriot
movement. Swan said he gained a reputation for his speeches given before Tea Party and
Oath Taker audiences.
“He’s kind of the poster boy for the militia world,” Swan said. “Well, he used to be.”
Dyer is an independent affiliate of the militia network, or a “lone wolf,” Swan said, and he
trained with her group, Texas Militia. She said she became a supporter after getting to
know Dyer and learning the evidence against him. She has distributed photographs of the
DNA evidence in the assault case online and has faxed pleas to re-evaluate the case to
Gov. Mary Fallin, McKinney and Hicks.
“I knew it was a risk supporting him publicly, but this is about being truthful,” Swan said.
“I completely believe this guy; he’s totally innocent.”
“But, I don’t know why they pulled me into all this,” she said.
Swan agrees with Dyer’s allegations that he is being set up. She thinks he is being
pursued vigorously because he wouldn’t work among the militia community as a law
enforcement informant. The definition of a domestic terrorist now includes a larger portion
of the militia network, Swan said, including herself, and she believes she could be
targeted next.
“I think he spoke just a little too loud,” Swan said. “Everything this man speaks of, I feel
the same way.”
Swan said she believes that Dyer is being used as an example “to make us look like
we’re nuts.” She and her militia group have been included in the Southern Poverty Law
Center’s list of domestic terrorists — “That means you’ve been heard,” she said.
With the Sept. 11 anniversary nearing, Swan believes Dyer is also being set up. Known
for his skull face half-mask worn in many videos, Dyer has given “the machine” a perfect
foil, Swan said.
“What a beautiful setup; what a great strawman they get to set up,” Swan said. “I believe
this guy is going to be blamed for something big.”

Wanted fugitive
3. Charles Allen Dyer, 31, stands 6-feet, 185 pounds. Missing since Aug. 15. Wanted:
Failure to appear for felony trial in the Stephens County District Court on charges of child
sexual abuse and receiving stolen property. A federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution
warrant was also issued last week, adding the FBI to the manhunt.
A sighting tip on Sunday led the FBI to Sealy, Texas, six miles west of Houston.
Officers have been warned to approach Dyer with caution, he could be armed with a pair
of assault rifles — an AK-47 and an AR-15 — as well as a Glock 9 mm handgun. Dyer has
known ties within the American Militia movement and is a former Marine with weapons
training.
Law enforcement are warned: “Dyer may initiate a deadly force encounter with law
enforcement on contact.”
Dyer could be traveling in a silver 2000 GMC Yukon with Texas tags driven by a blonde
woman, 39, standing 5-feet, 8-inches, 120 pounds.

Dryer manhunt focuses on Texas
Authorities eye Ft. Bend County

DUNCAN — With the face of Charles Alan Dyer now circulating the nation, sheriff’s
deputies in Fort Bend County, Texas have joined the manhunt for the former U.S. Marine,
who became a fugitive from justice by failing to report to a trial in Duncan.
Extending a search that first took Federal Bureau of Investigation agents to Texas on
Sunday, the hunt for Dyer shifted Monday from Austin County to neighboring Ford Bend
County.
4. Federal investigators were checking into information Dyer may have been seen near
Sealy, Texas, but on Monday, FBI agents, members of the Texas Department of Public
Safety and law officers from Fort Bend County were drawn to the town of Wallis. The
relocation was prompted by reports from several Wallis-are residents that a man fitting
Dyer’s description was knocking on doors asking for a ride to Houston.
On Monday evening, investigators were searching an area near railroad tracks along
Texas State Highway 36, which stretches to Rosenberg, Texas.
Dyer failed to appear for trial on Aug. 15 in Stephens County Courthouse, where he faced
a charge of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 10. It was the second time the
Marlow resident had been brought to court on the charge, after a mistrial was declared in
April.
When Dyer failed to appear for trial in Duncan, the FBI issued a federal warrant for
unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, which will prevent Dyer from fighting extradition should
he be apprehended. The warrant was obtained through the United States District Court for
the Western District of Oklahoma.
Since the FBI stepped in, a wanted poster has been circulated throughout the United
States, stating Dyer is believed to be heavily armed and if stopped “may initiate a violent
encounter with law enforcement.”
As seen on the FBI’s website, the poster features two pictures of the blue-eyed Dyer. In
one taken around 2008, he is wearing a suit and tie. The other photo, dated 2010, shows
him in a collarless shirt, possibly a sweatshirt.
It is believed Dyer is traveling with a female acquaintance who lives in Austin County
region. Dyer’s birthplace is Texas, according to the FBI poster.
A former Marine officer, with time served overseas, Dyer is trained in tactics and
weaponry. The last time he was seen in Stephens County Courthouse was shortly after 5
p.m. on Aug. 12, when Dyer attended an emergency hearing.
Dyer has several connections to militia groups.
Anyone with information on Dyer’s whereabouts should contact the FBI’s tip line at 1-800-
CALL-FBI, or a local FBI office. They may also contact the Stephens County Sheriff’s
Office at 1-580-255-3131. Calls can be placed anonymously.
