Household Servants: A common scene in Bangladesh According to the Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies (BILS), 70% of Household Servants in Bangladesh are children and of these, many are only between 5 and 10 years of age. These children are often victims of child abuse and exploitation by their employers.

6. Shohagi is a 10 year old girl from Bangladesh. Like many others, Shohagi went to work to earn her living at the age of 9. Recently she was found beaten, battered, burned and bewildered, unable to walk or talk, after neighbors responded to her cries for help. She was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. Shohagi was being continuously tortured by the family she works for.
