Identify the type of chart you want to create
Have participants identify the steps in the process

Working as a team, arrange the steps in order
Discuss the results
Number the tasks sequentially
Transfer the completed map to paper or computer
Process Maps
We can bring the process down to the
ground level
It uses an enhanced process map called a
value stream map

Create a SIPOC Diagram of the plant to cup
process
Draw the process flow
Begin the process at the end with what’s
delivered to the customer and work
upstream
Identify the main activities
Place the activities in sequence on the map
Add the material flow
Show the movement of all material
Group together material with the same flow

Group together material with the same flow
Map all of the sub processes
Include any incoming inspection and process
testing activities
Add suppliers at the beginning of the
process
Add the information flow
Map the information flow between activities
Document how the process communicates
