Virtual Reality Technology (VR)
On March 25, 2014, Facebook
purchased a company that makes virtual
reality headsets, Oculus VR, for $2 billion.
Sony announces Project Morpheus (its code
name for PlayStation VR), a virtual reality
headset for the PlayStation 4. Google
announces Cardboard, a do-it-yourself
stereoscopic viewer for smartphones.
Virtual Reality (VR), which can be
referred to as immersive
multimedia or computer-simulated
life, replicates an environment
that simulates physical presence in
places in the real world or
imagined worlds and lets the user
interact in that world. Virtual
reality artificially creates sensory
experiences, which can include
sight, hearing, touch, and smell.
