David Lawrence is an expert geologist who has applied his expertise at Royal Dutch Shell in positions ranging from chief geologist to executive vice president. In addition to his work with Shell, David Lawrence presented as a Halbouty Keynote Plenary Lecturer at the 2011 Annual American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) meeting. Lawrence is also the recipient of the Wallace Pratt award for best paper in the AAPG Bulletin and a past AAPG Distinguished Lecturer.

2. Introduction
 David Lawrence is an expert geologist who has applied

AAPG is a global professional organization for the
geological profession. Founded in 1917, AAPG is
headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and serves over
40,000 members across 129 countries.

3. Annual American Association of Petroleum
Geologists
 On top of a wide range of member services, the
organization hosts an annual convention in support
of its mission to advance the science and profession
of geology.
Scheduled next for April 2, 2017, in Houston, Texas,
the AAPG Annual Convention is a global event that
regularly includes close to 7,000 attendees. The
event features prominent speakers, a technical
program, and a Global Gateway and International
Pavilion, where the future of geology and current
issues are discussed. The theme for the 2017
conference is 100 Years of Science Fueling 100
Years of Prosperity.
