3. Today’s Areas of
Focus
If at any time you
need assistance
through any of these
or other steps.
Please click on the
“Live Chat” button
that is at the bottom
right of your
Welcome Page.
For a more in depth
analysis of Patch
Management go
here.
4. Step 1: Subscribe &
Download
When setting up to
test your Kbox, please
make sure and set it
up the night before
running the test.
Now we will
download patches by
going to Subscription
Settings. (If there are
no settings for
Windows or Mac it
just means it is a fresh
install and there aren’t
any settings on it)
5. Updating
Patches
To update patches click
on Setting>>Control
Panel>>Patch Settings.
After clicking Patch
Settings click on the
Update Patching button
and wait a few minutes.
Next click on the
Security Module at the
top and scroll down. It
will show by “Last
Update Status” that it
has been updated.
6. Now We are
Ready to
Subscribe
Here you will see a list
of all of the supported
operating systems and
be able to edit them at
the bottom with the
Edit Mode button at
the bottom of the
page.
Don’t click on the
Download Software
Installers, this is an
advanced option that
will be discussed later.
7. Next Let’s Create
Patch Filters
For now we will skip
the Machine Filters
because it’s in another
presentation in better
depth. But Patch
Filters are very
similar, so this should
help with both
processes.
Go to the Label tab
under Inventory and
create a label that we
want to use to collect
the patches we are
going to focus on.
8. Patch Filters
Continued
In Patch Listing click
on Create Patch
Filter button. This is
going to permit us
to group patches
together to update
multiple updates at
once.
The queries can be
as simple or
complex as you’d
like.
9. Closing up the
Updates
In this stage of the updates you
can select your queries to
update both Windows and
Mac OS’.
Next go back to Inventory and
select the “My View By” pull-
down it will show you all the
patches that are under that
filter.
Any time updates become
available for those
categorizations you will see
them available in that screen.
From here on your updates
will be an easy to use dynamic
policy or schedule.
