What is it all about?

2. Advent means ‘the coming’
of something.
Christians have
FOUR Sundays to get
ready to celebrate Jesus’
birth.
The first Sunday of
Advent is the beginning of
the Christian Church's
year.

3. Why have an Advent Wreath?
• The wreath is
-a circle to show that Gods love
goes on
-and green to show new hope.
• The four outer candles are for the
four Sundays of Advent

4. The four traditional advent
themes
• The Candle of HOPE
• The Candle of PEACE
• The Candle of LOVE
• The Candle of JOY
• A fifth candle is sometimes lit in the
middle to celebrate the birth of Jesus

5. How dark outside!
but see -- a star's in the sky;
Mary and Joseph are passing by.
So let's light a candle to welcome
them
as they go on their way to
Bethlehem.
We'll light a candle in church each day,
We'll light one candle each week and
pray.

6. Advent Prayer.
Advent is a time for us to think
about Christmas.
It's a time for getting ready and an
exciting time too.
Help us to find ways to be good
and help others just like Jesus
did.
