Benedictine University held a "Faces of Benedictine" project to help spread the
different views, faces, and people of the school. I focused on the diversity Benedictine
has to offer and how despite differences, we are still all students of the same university.

Hub City, Iowa- Currently in Dublin, Ireland but born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri,
Samantha Goodwin graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Illinois State
University. Goodwin will be hosting her personal art exhibit featuring her Midwestern-
roots September 13 through November 14 in Gallery One, located inside the Hub City
Gallery of Art on 1967 Ditko Street in Hub City, Iowa.
On September 14 there will be an art opening reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres
included, followed by a discussion of her artwork by Samantha Goodwin herself. Select
pieces of art will be available for sale to the public for the duration of the show.
Goodwin uses her oil paintings to reminisce about her time in the Midwest. Her expressive
colors and use of palate knives and Windsor brushes earned her a feature spread in Art In
America’s March 2009 issue.
Although falling in love changed Goodwin’s location, she stated that “Ireland may be
pretty, but the Midwest is my home”. Goodwin uses her art to relive not only her
memories, but her impression of her home in the States.
Goodwin even went so far as to reveal that next she will be doing a companion series of
her scenic views in her Ireland home.
Hub City Gallery of Art has been in business with famous and local artists since 1974,
including Christian Marclay and Jeff Wall. We focus on a modern-minimalistic
environment to keep the focus on the artwork and a subtle waiting committee to make the
mood more captivating and calm.
