6. PROCESS
HARVESTING
Teams of skilled native harvesters in partnership with
MonaVie climb up to 30 meters high with vines
secured tightly around their ankles for safety to pick
the nutritious and powerful açai berries.
FREEZE-DRIED POWDER (-80°F)
By freeze-drying the açai--a highly effective method
of preserving food by rapid freezing then drying in
a vacuum--up to one hundred percent of the phytonu-
trient composition is maintained when compared to
other drying methods.
PHYTOCHEMICAL RETENTION IN DRIED FRUITS
Freeze-drying: 100%
Air drying: 45%
Spray drying: 30%
FROZEN PUREE
Freezing the açai puree also helps guarantee that a
significant amount of the berry’s nutritional content is
maintained.
FLASH PASTEURIZATION
Flash pasteurization is a method of sterilizing food
to make it safe for human consumption that involves
a process of high heat for a short time to destroy
all potentially harmful microbes. Using this method,
MonaVie products are rapidly heated, bottled, and
cooled, thereby capturing the fresh flavors, vibrant
colors, and beneficial nutrients.

7. ANTIOXIDANTS
FREE RADICALS
A free radical is an unstable compound that your
body is exposed to daily.
Left without restraint, free radicals can damage healthy
cells and are believed to be involved with premature
aging and many chronic diseases.
OXIDATION
In excess, free radicals produce harmful oxidation that
can damage cell membranes.
An example of oxidation is an apple core. Because
it’s been exposed to oxygen in the air, it turns brown.
CAUSES OF FREE RADICALS
Free radicals are everywhere and are impossible to
avoid. They are a result of everyday living. They can
be found in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and
the food we eat.
Tobacco smoke, alcohol, pollution, insecticides, radia-
tion, chemicals in the home or at work, and excessive
amounts of sunlight are all prolific contributors to the
formation of free radicals.
Other causes include a high-fat diet, stress, insufficient
sleep, and strenuous exercise.
OXIDATIVE STRESS
When free radicals outweigh the body’s ability to
counter their damaging effects, the result is known as
oxidative stress.
ANTIOXIDANTS TO THE RESCUE!
Antioxidants act as cell protectors for our bodies
that prevent free radicals from potentially damaging
millions of healthy, functioning cells. They do this by
donating an electron to unstable free radicals, which
neutralizes their harmful effects.
DIET AND SUPPLEMENTATION
Obtaining a variety of antioxidants through diet or
supplementation is essential to maintaining your
good health.
HIGHEST ANTIOXIDANT LEVELS
Scientific studies have shown that when properly
freeze-dried, açai contains higher antioxidant levels
than any other whole fruit or vegetable on earth; four
to eleven times greater than blueberries.
ORAC SCALE
The ORAC scale is a standardized method for
measuring the antioxidant capacity in fruits and
vegetables. The acronym “ORAC” stands for
“Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity.”
MonaVie’s freeze-dried açai powder claims an ORAC
score higher than any other whole fruit or vegetable
tested to date—it’s simply unparalleled in its
antioxidant strength.

VALIDATION STEPS
MonaVie has completed studies in the following three
areas of research and has demonstrated powerful
antioxidant capabilities in all three.
Step one: In Vitro Testing (in a test tube)
When validating a product’s ability to fight free
radicals or antioxidant abilities, identifying its ORAC
value is just the first step. This first step is accomplished
with In Vitro Testing in a laboratory test tube.
Step two: Ex Vivo Testing (outside the body)
In Vitro ORAC Testing is valid, but it only identifies
a product’s potential to fight a specific group of free
radicals. This is not a true representation of what
actually happens in the body. There’s more. The second
step of validation is to do Ex Vivo Testing, meaning
testing of live organisms outside of the body.
Step three: Clinical Human Research
If results are positive for In Vitro and Ex Vivo Testing,
the third step is to conduct Clinical Human Research.
This type of study demonstrates what is taking place in
the body by consuming a particular product.
PHYTONUTRIENTS
Not exactly vitamins, and not exactly minerals,
phytonutrients are compounds acting as cell guardians
that contribute to flavor, color and disease resistance
of plants. Many phytonutrients, also called
“phytochemicals,” have antioxidant properties.
One can receive maximum health benefits by
consuming a variety of phytonutrients with a full
spectrum of colors and pigments, such as those found
in MonaVie products.

9. FDA COMPLIANT
MonaVie goes to great lengths to ensure its products
continue to be safe. This includes using ingredients
with “Generally Recognized As Safe” status as required
by the FDA prior to sale.
MonaVie also ensures that its products are
manufactured according to “Current Good Manufacturing
Practices” as required by the FDA.
RIGOROUS TESTING
MonaVie employs rigorous testing to ensure its
products meet its pre-determined high quality stan-
dards for safety and purity.
However, despite our confidence in the safety of
MonaVie products, if you have any health concerns,
you should carefully read the label for its ingredient
content and consult a physician before starting any
new product or program.
INTERACTIONS
Although MonaVie does not provide medical advice,
there are some prescription medicines that are known
to interact with foods and nutrients that you should be
aware of.
These include vitamin K with blood thinners or anti-
coagulants, and potassium with blood pressure and
ACE inhibitor medications. Before taking MonaVie
products, be sure to review your prescriptions first,
then consult with your physician.
ATHLETIC BANNED SUBSTANCES
With a strong interest in providing support for health-
conscious athletes, MonaVie wanted to be sure the
legitimacy of its products would never be called into
question. Consequently, Original and Active were
subjected to rigorous testing for over 170 harmful
substances.
These substances are banned from the MonaVie
Game:
Beta Blockers Diuretics
Narcotics Anabolic Steroids
Stimulants Masking Agents
DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE TESTING
MonaVie products have also been tested for benzene,
heavy metals, harmful bacteria, and pesticides; none
detected.
“Good taste” is more than just
flavor—it’s holding high standards
in every aspect of living.
GOOD TASTE
It’s no secret that MonaVie has better taste than any
product of its kind.
“Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink
the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the
influences of each.”

10. NATURAL FLAVORS
MonaVie uses natural flavors. MonaVie’s natural
flavors make their products more palatable and bal-
anced by staying true to the natural flavor of the entire
fruit. The natural flavor used in MonaVie Original and
Active juices and in MonaVie Gel is a mixed berry
natural flavor.
GREEN CLUMPS
Kind of like the oil droplets that form when you shake
oil and vinegar together, the green clumps you might
see in MonaVie juice are heart-friendly substances
known as mono and poly-unsaturated fatty acids,
which come from the açai berry. These fats tend to
coagulate or clump together when flash pasteurized.
They are not harmful; in fact, they are very healthy.
Remember to shake the
bottle well before pouring.
CONTENT MAY VARY
Healthy fat content also accounts for why MonaVie
products may sometimes taste or look different. De-
pending on the area of the Amazon and the time of
year the açai berry is harvested, the fat content may
vary slightly from bottle to bottle.
As with any natural fruit or vegetable, it’s not
produced with the exact same nutritional
composition every time it grows.
COMPLETE PROTEIN
Açai is a complete protein, meaning that it has all
essential amino acids. But to avoid any confusion, the
actual amount of protein per serving in the MonaVie
blends is less than one gram per ounce. Therefore,
the label on the bottle states “0 grams” of protein.
Four ounces of MonaVie juice, however, provide 1
gram of protein.
SHELF LIFE
Unopened:
All juices, gels and Emv = 1 year
Opened & Refrigerated:
Original and Active = 30 - 60 days
Pulse = 15 - 30 days
EMV
= Consume in one sitting
PRESERVATIVES
Because MonaVie has no control over how products
are stored once they arrive at their destination, we
understand that the products might be stored in sub-
optimal conditions—conditions in which potentially
harmful bacteria could grow. For this reason,
MonaVie employs the sensible use of preservatives
to prevent such microbial growth from taking place.
Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate are ap-
proved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
They’re very safe and have been used in food products
for over a century. These preservatives help maintain the
freshness and nutritional content of MonaVie products.

11. SYNERGISM
Synergism comes about when two or more things com-
bine together to create something greater than either
of them could produce by themselves. Like when you
mix red and blue paint together - you get purple.
Adhering to the philosophy of balance, variety, and
moderation, each MonaVie product includes a blend
of the açai berry, and 18 other beneficial fruits from
around the world. Together, their synergistic effect
reaches far beyond what any single fruit could
accomplish.
ORIGINAL JUICE BLEND
MonaVie Original is essentially the foundation for Ac-
tive and Pulse. MonaVie Original offers potent anti-
oxidant protection against free radicals, delivers the
antioxidant capacity of approximately 13 servings of
fruits and vegetables in just four ounces, and features
a wide array of nutrients for optimal health.
AÇAI PROPORTIONS
The exact amount of açai, or of the other fruits
contained in MonaVie blends is not disclosed.
This is considered one of the company’s greatest
intellectual assets.
However, it’s public knowledge that açai is the most
abundant fruit in the blends, and the amount of açai
used in all three blends is the same.
GEL PACKS
For men and women on-the-go, all three blends also
offer a convenient gel option formulated to deliver the
same remarkable benefits as their juice counterparts.

14. CHOLESTEROL
According to the American Heart
Association, elevated blood
cholesterol is a major risk factor in
cardiovascular health. Nearly 100
million Americans have elevated
cholesterol and they don’t even know it.
The good news that cholesterol levels
can often be modified by lifestyle
changes, such as eating a diet low
in saturated fat and cholesterol, and
high in whole grains, fruits, and
vegetables.
PLANT STEROLS
Many plants contain substances known
as sterols, phytonutrients found in the
fatty tissues of plants. Wheat germ,
sesame oil, wheat bran, and Brussels
sprouts are rich in plant sterols.
In a number of studies, plant sterols
have demonstrated the ability to im-
prove cholesterol levels in humans.
PLANT STEROLS COMPETE WITH
CHOLESTEROL
When plant sterols are consumed, they
compete with cholesterol for absorption
in the body. From your body’s point
of view, plant sterols look a lot like
cholesterol.
DIFFICULTY OF CONSUMING
ENOUGH STEROLS
It’s difficult to consume enough foods
high in plant sterols on a daily basis to
maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
And even if you could, you would
hardly have room to eat anything else.
MONAVIE
PULSE BLEND CONTINUED...
THE PULSE SOLUTION
Foods containing at least 0.4 grams per
serving of plant sterols, eaten twice a
day with meals for a daily total intake
of at least 0.8 grams as part of a diet
low in saturated fat and cholesterol,
may reduce the risk of heart disease.
Now compare this with MonaVie Pulse,
which contains significant plant sterol
levels. One 2 ounce serving of Pulse,
two times a day also supplies 0.8
grams of plant sterols. Problem solved!
NO CLARIFICATION PROCESS
Some companies only use clarified
açai juice which has been stripped of
its heart-healthy fats. But as you know,
MonaVie uses premium açai without
removing the berry’s beneficial fat.
NO ADVERSE EFFECTS
Numerous human studies conducted
with plant sterols have shown no
adverse effects in most populations.
However, if you’re pregnant or lactating
and have a specific concern or question
about consuming MonaVie Pulse, we
recommend you consult with your physi-
cian prior to consuming the product.
THE FRENCH PARADOX
In addition to the protective benefits of
plant sterols, MonaVie products also
contain a variety of polyphenols. Poly-
phenols are a class of powerful antioxi-
dants that are thought to be responsible
for the French Paradox.
The French have a diet relatively
high in fat, yet have a decreased
incidence of heart disease.
This is typically attributed to the amount
of polyphenols present in the grapes
used to make French red wines.
RESVERATROL
MonaVie Pulse contains resveratrol, a
natural compound produced by some
plants to protect it from environmental
stresses like fungal disease and sun
radiation.
Resveratrol also supports the human
cardiovascular system and the body’s
ability to protect healthy blood vessels.

15. KOSHER JUICE BLEND
MonaVie Original is also available in a Kosher
certified blend. Kosher certified foods are foods that
meet Jewish dietary laws and traditions. MonaVie has
received certification from the Orthodox Union, the
world’s largest and most widely recognized Kosher
certification agency.
MonaVie Kosher is very similar to MonaVie Original,
but has its own unique blend of fruits. This accounts
for the slight difference in the color, taste, and texture.
It does not have white grape, aronia, cupuacu, or
camu camu, and doesn’t contain potassium sorbate.
Four new fruits have been added: pineapple,
elderberry, cherry and blackberry.

16. ENERGY TO THE POWER OF MONAVIE
Unlike most energy drinks which are loaded with
synthetic caffeine and high fructose corn syrup,
MonaVie EMV
is a natural, healthy, long lasting
blend of antioxidant-rich super fruits and
energizing botanicals.
Great tasting and lightly carbonated, this healthy
formula increases performance, endurance, and
concentration by kicking up your energy level and
keeping it there—without the high sugar,
stimulant-subsequent crash.
PALATINOSETM
The sweet taste, and most of the calories in MonVie
EMV
, come from the fruit juices and Palatinose,
which are healthier energy sources. Isomaltulose is
the generic name for Palatinose, which is a carbo-
hydrate found naturally in honey and sugar cane.
Palatinose metabolizes more slowly when compared
to table sugar, promoting a steady stream of energy
over a longer period of time. Another benefit of
Palatinose is that it doesn’t cause gastric discomfort,
and it’s kinder to the teeth.

17. CARBS COMBINED WITH CAFFEINE
“Real energy,” as opposed to “perceived energy,”
comes from calories. Caffeine alone revs up the body
and mind but lacks the fuel to give them power. The
body is highly active and requires a steady flow of
fuel from carbohydrates, which provide calories and
energy.
MonaVie EMV
provides a responsible level of natural
caffeine for clarity and focus with a proper blend of
carbohydrates to give the fuel needed for a combina-
tion of immediate and longer lasting energy levels.
EMV
A SUPERFRUIT BLEND
Like the other MonaVie products
you’ve learned about, MonaVie EMV
is also fundamentally a superfruit
blend. This blend includes açai,
apple, acerola, camu camu,
cupuaçu, pear, and white and purple
grape. The amount of açai in EMV
is
comparable to the amount found in
the MonaVie juices and gel products.
EMV
BOTANICALS
In addition to the fruit juices, MonaVie EMV
has been
infused with powerful energy-enhancing botanicals:
guarana, green tea, maca, yerba mate and ginseng.
EMV
ENERGIZING NUTRIENT: D-RIBOSE
Along with healthy fruits and botanicals, specific en-
ergizing nutrients were added to EMV
so you can stay
up to speed in a fast paced world. Ribose is a unique
carbohydrate that when combined with other compo-
nents increases production and storage of cell energy.
EMV
ENERGIZING NUTRIENT: L-TYROSINE
L-tyrosine, an amino acid, is a precursor to adrenaline
naturally formed in the body. Because of its role in the
body, tyrosine may be involved with helping the body
cope with stressful situations.
EMV
ENERGIZING NUTRIENT: VITAMIN C
(FROM ACEROLA)
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin needed by the
body for hundreds of vital metabolic reactions. This
need, along with its antioxidant properties, makes
Vitamin C an important nutrient to consume daily to
help maintain proper cell metabolism and tissue health.
EMV
ENERGIZING NUTRIENT: B-COMPLEX VITAMINS
B-complex consists of essential vitamins important for
many physiological functions, and functions such as
the metabolism of carbohydrates and fat into energy.
The B-complex vitamins included in MonaVie EMV
are
vitamins B3, B5, B6, and B12.
TOO MUCH CAFFEINE UNLIKELY
Too much caffeine, especially for sensitive individuals,
can cause restlessness, anxiousness, irritability and
headaches. Too much is considered more than 500
milligrams daily.
Too much caffeine = 500 milligrams daily
EMV
= 55 milligrams caffeine per serving
MonaVie EMV
contains about 55 milligrams of caffeine
per serving. This amount of caffeine is comparable
to many popular cola drinks. A person would have
to consume an unusually high number of servings to
have these side effects.

38. Açai: A small, round, dark-violet berry
crowned with a white ornamental whorl. Its
appearance is similar to that of a grape, but
it has a smaller amount of pulp and a single
large seed. Açai flavor can be described as a
cross between blackberries and chocolate. The
primary ingredient in MonaVie products, açai
has been prized for centuries by the people of
the Amazon as a source of health and vitality.
Modern science has documented the remark-
able nutritional properties of the açai berry,
bringing it into the limelight of the world and
dubbing it a “superfood,” meaning a food
with an unusually high phytonutrient content.
Featuring an impressive nutritional profile, açai
is literally loaded—antioxidants, phytonutri-
ents, vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, amino
acids, plant sterols, protein, healthy fats, and
fiber—all remarkably captured in MonaVie’s
premier açai formulas. The açai berry is
particularly unique because it contains all of
the essential amino acids necessary for life. In
fact, so complete is this amazing fruit that the
Brazilian people living along the Amazon use
it as a primary food source in their diet. Teams
of skilled native harvesters in partnership with
MonaVie climb açai trees up to 30 meters high
with vines secured tightly around their ankles
for safety to pick the nutritious and powerful
berries--making it available to a modern world
in critical need of sound nutrition.
Açai Proportions: The exact amount of açai
contained in MonaVie blends is not disclosed.
This is considered one of the company’s greatest
intellectual assets. The amount of açai used in
all three blends is the same.
Acerola: This is a bright red, soft, and juicy
fruit that has been eaten for centuries by the
natives of the Antilles, Central America, and
Northern South America. Also called the
Barbados cherry, this fruit is known for having
high concentrations of ascorbic acid, or vita-
min C, acting as an antioxidant and a natural
preservative.
GLOSSARY
Active Juice Blend: In addition to the beneficial
properties found in our Original juice blend,
MonaVie Active was formulated with the
added benefit of plant-derived glucosamine
scientifically shown to help promote joint
mobility, health, and function. This vital formula
delivers the resources your body needs to get
moving. MonaVie Active contains açai, acerola,
white grape, apple, pear, purple grape,
aronia, cranberry, passion fruit, banana,
prune, kiwi, blueberry, bilberry, camu camu,
wolfberry, pomegranate and lychee.
Anthocyanin: Blue, red, and/or violet pigments
from fruits and vegetables with antioxidant
capabilities.
Antioxidant: Cell protectors for our bodies that
prevent free radicals from potentially damaging
millions of healthy, functioning cells. They do
this by donating an electron to unstable free
radicals, which neutralizes their harmful effects.
Apple: The traditional apple being added
to MonaVie is both delicious and nutritious.
Apples are rich in antioxidant polyphenols.
Aronia: Also known as the chokeberry, Aronia
is a glossy, bluish-black or red fruit with a
slightly bitter to pleasantly sweet flavor, and
a high concentration of vitamin C. Because of
its dark pigment, this Native of Eastern North
America is high in various antioxidants.
Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C): Found in many
MonaVie fruits, and an energizing nutrient
added to EMV
, vitamin C is a water-soluble
vitamin needed by the body for hundreds of
vital metabolic reactions. This need, along with
its antioxidant properties, makes Vitamin C an
important nutrient to consume daily to help main-
tain proper cell metabolism and tissue health.
Athletic Banned Substances: Original and
Active were subjected to rigorous testing for
over 170 harmful substances prohibited for use
by professional athletes. These products were
found to contain no beta blockers, diuretics,
narcotics, anabolic steroids, stimulants, or
masking agents.
Balance, Variety, Moderation Philosophy:
MonaVie products are developed with the
philosophy that balance is better than relying
upon the contribution of a single ingredient,
variety can produce greater benefits than one
particular nutrient, and moderation is more
powerful than excess.
Banana: Bananas are typically grown in the
humid, tropical region of South America and
have very beneficial nutritional properties.
They are a good source of several nutrients
including vitamin C and potassium.
B-Complex Vitamins: Energizing nutrients
added to EMV
, b-complex consists of essential
vitamins important for many physiological func-
tions, and functions such as the metabolism of
carbohydrates and fat into energy. The
B-complex vitamins included in MonaVie EMV
are vitamins B3, B5, B6, and B12.
Bilberry: These berries grown on a perennial
shrub, reddish purple in color and native to
Northern Europe and North America. They are
high in substances called flavonoids, which are
found in many fruits and vegetables. Flavonoids
are a large group of phytonutrients that are
defined by color. The flavonoids in these berries
are associated with good vision and eye function.
Blackberry: Used for over 2,000 years in
Europe for eating and medicinal purposes, this
fruit is also native to Asia, North America, and
South America. The dark colored aggregate
fruit is a dense source of polyphenolic
compounds and is high in antioxidants.
Blueberry: Blueberries have a diverse range of
nutrients with notably high levels of manga-
nese, vitamin C and vitamin K. Antioxidant
levels in blueberries are particularly high.
Caffeine: A central nervous system stimulant
derived from various plant sources, listed by
the USDA as a “Multiple Purpose Generally
Recognized As Safe Food Substance.”
MonaVie EMV
provides a responsible level of
natural caffeine for clarity and focus with a
proper blend of carbohydrates to give the fuel
needed for a combination of immediate and
longer lasting energy levels.

39. Camu Camu: Produced on a low-growing
shrub found throughout the Amazon, this fruit
is round and red when young and dark purple
when ripe. The fruit is about the size of a lemon
and contains a significant amount of vitamin C.
Carotenoids: Red, orange, and/or yellow
antioxidant pigments mostly from vegetables
and some fruits, and are a source of vitamin A.
Catechins: Flavonoid polyphenols with an
antioxidant function. Catechins are commer-
cially used in dyeing and tanning.
Cholesterol: The most common type of steroid
in the bloodstream of the human body, and
is an important component of healthy cell
membranes. However, in excess, cholesterol is
a factor in coronary disease. The good news
is that cholesterol levels can often be modified
by lifestyle changes, such as eating a diet low
in saturated fat and cholesterol, and high in
whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
Clarification: A process of making fruit or
vegetables into a clear liquid form by remov-
ing the suspended solids. The downside of this
process is that it strips out nutrient rich fats and
pulp. As opposed to clarification, MonaVie
uses premium açai pulp and freeze-dried
powder to ensure you receive the nutritional
benefits this incredible fruit has to offer.
Clinical Human Research: If results are positive
for in vitro and ex vivo testing, a third validation
step is to conduct clinical human research. This
type of study demonstrates what is taking place
in the body by consuming a particular product.
Complete Protein: Açai is a complete protein,
meaning that is has all essential amino acids.
But to avoid any confusion, the actual amount
of protein per serving in the MonaVie blends
is less than one gram per ounce. Therefore,
the label on the bottle states “zero grams”
of protein. Four ounces of MonaVie juice,
however, provide one gram of protein.
GLOSSARY CONTINUED...
Concord Grape: The particular variety of this
fruit was developed in 1849 in the state of
Massachusetts. This dark, aromatic purple fruit
has a high phenolic content and antioxidant
capacity. Fresh fruit of this variety contains
variable amounts of vitamin C.
Contents May Vary: Healthy fat content
accounts for why MonaVie products may
sometimes taste or look different. Depending on
the area of the Amazon and the time of year
the açai berry is harvested, the fat content may
vary slightly from bottle to bottle. As with any
natural fruit or vegetable, it’s not produced
with the exact same nutritional composition
every time it grows.
Copper: A mineral necessary for the formation
of red blood cells, elastin, and collagen. It also
helps maintain healthy bones, blood vessels,
nerves, and the immune system.
Cranberry: Native to North America, this dark
red, tart berry is packed with nutrients, includ-
ing potent antioxidant flavonoids and other
polyphenolic compounds.
Cupuaçu: This fruit originates in the south and
southeastern parts of the Brazilian Amazon. It
is strong and pleasant smelling, and is known
for its volatile aroma. The pulp is white and
soft, and has a sour and highly-flavored taste.
Dangerous Substance Testing: MonaVie
products have been tested for dangerous
substances such as benzene, heavy metals,
harmful bacteria, and pesticides; none
being detected.
Dietary Fiber: The indigestible portion of edible
parts of plants that are not broken down in
the digestive system. Dietary fiber pushes food
through the digestive system, absorbs water,
eases defecation, and relieves constipation.
Digestive fiber has several health benefits such
as lowering the risk of diabetes, heart disease
and colon cancer.
D-Ribose: An energizing nutrient added to EMV
,
ribose is a carbohydrate that when combined
with other components increases production
and storage of cell energy.
Elderberry: Native to the subtropical regions
of eastern North America and Europe, early
settlers used this fruit as a dried and medicinal
crop. The flat topped clusters of small, juicy,
round berries are loaded with blue and red
pigmented phytonutrients and antioxidants.
Ellagic Acid: A polyphenolic antioxidant some-
times used to stop blood flow and bleeding.
EMV
: Unlike most energy drinks which are load-
ed with synthetic caffeine and high fructose
corn syrup, MonaVie EMV
is a natural, healthy,
long lasting blend of antioxidant-rich super
fruits. This blend includes açai, apple, acerola,
camu camu, cupuaçu, pear, and white and
purple grape. However, in addition to the fruit
juices, MonaVie EMV
has been infused with
powerful energy-enhancing botanicals includ-
ing guarana, green tea, maca, yerba mate
and ginseng. Additional energizing nutrients
were also added such as D-risbose, L-tyrosine,
vitamin C and B-complex vitamins. Great
tasting and lightly carbonated, this healthy
formula increases performance, endurance,
and concentration by kicking up your energy
level and keeping it there— without the high
sugar, stimulant-subsequent crash. The sweet
taste and most of the calories in MonaVie
EMV
come from the fruit juices and Palatinose,
which are healthier energy sources. MonaVie
EMV
provides a responsible level of natural
caffeine for clarity and focus with a proper
blend of carbohydrates to give the fuel needed
for a combination of immediate and longer
lasting energy levels.
Ex Vivo: Laboratory testing of live organism
performed outside of the body.
FDA: U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Flash Pasteurization: A method of sterilizing
food to make it safe for human consumption
that involves a process of high heat for a short
time to destroy all potentially harmful microbes.
The products are rapidly heated, bottled, and
cooled, thereby capturing the fresh flavors,
vibrant colors, and beneficial nutrients. This
method is superior to Kettle Pasteurization.
Flavanols: A subclass of flavonoids.

body is exposed to daily. Left without restraint,
free radicals can damage healthy cells, and
are believed to be involved with premature
aging and many chronic diseases.
Freeze Drying: A highly effective method of
preserving food by rapidly freezing the food,
then drying it in a vacuum. By freeze-drying
the açai, up to one hundred percent of the
phytonutrient composition is maintained when
compared to other drying methods.
Gel Packs: For men and women on-the-go, all
three MonaVie blends also offer a convenient
gel option formulated to deliver the same
remarkable benefits as their juice counterparts.
Ginseng: A botanical included in EMV
, ginseng
has been referred to as the king of all herbs.
The root offshoots are harvested after four
to six years of growth. In China, ginseng is
widely used medicinally to promote longevity,
and is said to improve quality of life.
Glucosamine: A natural compound found in
the body that is used to help make and form
cartilage. Glucosamine has been scientifically
shown to help promote joint mobility, health,
and function. The type of glucosamine used in
Active is the only non-animal, non-shellfish form
of glucosamine available, and therefore can
be consumed by people with shellfish allergies.
Glycoproteins: Prot eins that are essential in
making and maintaining healthy connective
tissue and joint cartilage.
GMP: An acronym that stands for “Good
Manufacturing Practice,” an industry standard
for management of manufacturing and quality
control testing of foods as required by the FDA.

GRAS: An acronym that stands for “Generally
Recognized As Safe,” a status required for
food products by the FDA prior to sale.
Green Clumps: The green clumps you might
see in MonaVie juice are heart-friendly sub-
stances known as mono and poly-unsaturated
fatty acids, which come from the açai berry.
These fats tend to coagulate or clump together
when flash pasteurized. They are not harmful;
in fact, they are very healthy. Remember to
shake the bottle well before pouring.
Green Tea: A botanical included in EMV
, and
cultivated originally in East Asia as a large
shrub tree, green tea now grows throughout
Asia and parts of the Middle East and Africa.
People have been drinking green tea around
the world for centuries. Studies suggest that
green tea has many health benefits due to its
antioxidant polyphenol content. Green tea may
also help boost metabolism and increase alert-
ness primarily due to its natural caffeine content.
Guarana: A botanical included in EMV
, guarana
is a Brazilian herb that is considered to be
“Generally Recognized As Safe.” It’s become
a popular addition to energy drinks due to its
natural caffeine content. Traditionally, guarana
has been used as a safe and natural physical
and mental pick-me-up. Today, guarana is
mostly used for energy and performance.
In Vitro: Laboratory testing done in a test tube.
Isomaltulose: The generic name for the trade
name Palatinose, which is a carbohydrate found
naturally occurring in honey and sugar cane.
Isomaltulose metabolizes more slowly when com-
pared to table sugar, promoting a steady stream
of energy over a longer period of time.
Kettle Pasteurization: A method of sterilizing
food to make it safe for human consumption
that involves heating the formula for hours to
destroy all potentially harmful microbes. This
method can inadvertently “cook out” many of
the nutritional properties of the food, and is not
as effective as Flash Pasteurization.
Kiwi: Originally known as the Chinese goose-
berry, kiwi is a rich source of nutrients such as
vitamin C, and potassium. The skin is a good
source of flavonoid antioxidants.
Kosher: Kosher certified foods are foods
that meet Jewish dietary laws and traditions.
Certification appears on over sixty percent of
America’s produced foods that are certified
Kosher. MonaVie has received certification
from the Orthodox Union, the world’s largest
and most widely recognized Kosher certifica-
tion agency.
Kosher Juice Blend: MonaVie Original is also
available in a Kosher certified blend. Kosher
certified foods are foods that meet Jewish
dietary laws and traditions. MonaVie has
received certification from the Orthodox Union,
the world’s largest and most widely recognized
Kosher certification agency. MonaVie Kosher
is very similar to MonaVie Original, but has
its own unique blend of fruits. This accounts
for the slight difference in the color, taste, and
texture. It does not have white grape, aronia,
cupuaçu, or camu camu, and doesn’t contain
potassium sorbate. Four new fruits have been
added: pineapple, elderberry, cherry and
blackberry.
Lipid Peroxidation: Cell damage resulting from
free radicals “stealing” electrons from lipids
inside cell membranes.
L-Tyrosine: An energizing nutrient added to
EMV
, L-tyrosine, a non-essential amino acid, is a
precursor to adrenaline naturally formed in the
body. Because of its role in the body, tyrosine
may be involved with helping the body cope
with stressful situations.
Lychee: A tropical fruit majorly grown in Asia,
Southeast Asia, and the Northern part of India.
It is rich in vitamin C, potassium, and copper.
This fruit may be good for digestive health.
Research has also shown that this fruit has
many health protective phytonutrients.

41. Maca: A botanical included in EMV
also known
as Peruvian ginseng, maca is native to South
America and has been used since ancient times
as a staple food crop. Maca has been long
known in folklore for its aphrodisiac and ener-
gizing properties. Maca has a long history of
use as a medicinal plant used by both men and
women to improve a sense of well being.
Manganese: A trace mineral that acts as an
enzyme activator in the human body. Man-
ganese is involved in the formation of bone,
in maintaining healthy nerve tissue, helps to
synthesize fatty acids and cholesterol, helps to
facilitate protein and carbohydrate metabolism,
and helps in the production of sex hormones.
Mono and Poly-unsaturated Fatty Acids:
Healthy fats that lower total cholesterol
and LDL cholesterol. Many nuts are high in
monounsaturated fats, and seafood is high in
polyunsaturated fats.
Natural Flavors: MonaVie uses natural flavors
in its products because a juice concentrate,
which contains only the juice from a fruit, does
not give you the entire flavor of the fruit.
MonaVie’s natural flavors make its products
more palatable and balanced by staying true
to the natural flavor of the entire fruit. The
natural flavor used in MonaVie Original and
Active juices and in MonaVie Gel is a mixed
berry natural flavor.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Fatty acids, particularly
found in fish oils, with the ability to lower
cholesterol levels.
ORAC Scale: A valuable measurement tool
for manufacturers to help quantify the health
benefits of their food products. ORAC stands
for “Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity.”
GLOSSARY CONTINUED...
Original Juice Blend: MonaVie Original is
a blend of the Brazilian açai berry—one of
nature’s top superfoods—and 18 other body-
beneficial fruits. This amazing blend provides
a wide variety of powerful antioxidants and
phytonutrients to help maintain and promote
good health. The fruits contained in MonaVie
Original are açai, white grape, apple,
acerola, aronia, purple grape, cranberry,
passion fruit, apricot, prune, kiwi, blueberry,
wolfberry, pomegranate, lychee, camu camu,
pear, banana and bilberry.
Oxidation: A chemical reaction in which oxygen
is combined with another substance. Iron when
exposed to oxygen produces rust, and there-
fore becomes corroded, or “oxidized.”
Oxidative Stress: When free radicals outweigh the
body’s ability to counter their damaging effects.
PalatinoseTM
: The trade name for isomaltulose,
a carbohydrate found naturally occurring in
honey and sugar cane. Isomaltulose metabolizes
more slowly when compared to table sugar,
promoting a steady stream of energy over a
longer period of time.
Passion Fruit: Passion fruit is commercially
important to Brazil. Native to tropical regions
of South America, with a color ranging from
yellow to purple, this round to oval-shaped fruit
has soft to firm juice sacs inside. It is rich in
body beneficial antioxidants.
Pear: Originally from Europe and Asia, pears
have a soft, buttery, and somewhat grainy tex-
ture. The white to cream-colored flesh of pears
was once referred to as the “gift of the gods.”
Juicy and sweet, pears may help promote
cardiovascular health and good digestion.
Phlorizin: An antioxidant phytonutrient ob-
tained from the roots and bark of certain trees
with potential health benefiting properties.
Phytonutrients: Not exactly vitamins, and not
exactly minerals, phytonutrients are com-
pounds acting as cell guardians that contrib-
ute to flavor, color and disease resistance
of plants. Many phytonutrients, also called
“phytochemicals,” have antioxidant properties.
Pineapple: Native to southern Brazil and
Paraguay, this tropical sweet fruit contains
phenolic compounds and significant amounts
of antioxidants. The edible juicy flesh ranges
from an almost white to yellow color.
Plant Sterols: Phytonutrient compounds found
in the fatty tissues of plants. In scientific studies,
plant sterols have demonstrated the ability to
improve cholesterol levels in humans. When
plant sterols are consumed, they compete with
cholesterol for absorption in the body. From
your body’s point of view, plant sterols look a
lot like cholesterol. So as you eat more meals
with sufficient amounts of plant sterols, your
body actually absorbs less cholesterol. How-
ever, it’s difficult to consume enough of these
foods on a daily basis to derive enough plant
sterols to maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
Supplementation with MonaVie Heart provides
a solution for this problem.
Polyphenolic Compounds: A class of powerful
antioxidants found in plants that are thought to
be responsible for the “French Paradox.”
Pomegranate: Originating from the Middle
East, Pomegranate is a good source of
nutrients such as vitamin C, potassium, and
antioxidant polyphenols. Some pomegranate
polyphenols have been shown to have potent
free-radical scavenging properties. Many
pomegranate phytonutrients have cardio-
protective properties.
Potassium: A mineral only exceeded in abun-
dance in the body by calcium and phosphorus.
Potassium is important in maintaining the body’s
electrolytes in a proper balance, helps regulate
blood pressure, and has an important role in
regulating the activity of muscles and nerves.
Prescription Medication Interactions: Although
MonaVie does not provide medical advice,
there are some prescription medicines that are
known to interact with foods and nutrients that
you should be aware of. These include vitamin
K with blood thinners or anti-coagulants, and
potassium with blood pressure and ACE inhibi-
tor medications. Before taking MonaVie prod-
ucts, be sure to review your prescriptions first,
then consult with your physician or pharmacist.

antioxidant polyphenols to promote a healthy
cardiovascular system. MonaVie Pulse is a
blend of açai, concord grape, pineapple,
apple, prickly pear, pomegranate, elder berry,
yumberry, bilberry, blackberry, blueberry,
cherry, cranberries, raspberry, aronia, acerola,
strawberry, cupuaçu and camu camu.
Purple Grape: Purple grapes belong to the
Vitaceae family and are grown and harvested
worldwide. They are abundant in cardio-friendly
antioxidants such as resveratrol.
GLOSSARY CONTINUED...
Raspberry: This fruit grows on a small, Native
American flowing bush or traveling vine. They
are high in flavonoids, which may support
healthy cardiovascular function.
Resveratrol: Natural compound produced by
some plants to protect it from environmental
stresses like fungal disease and sun radiation.
As an antioxidant, resveratrol also supports the
human cardiovascular system and the body’s
ability to protect healthy blood vessels.
Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate:
Food preservatives approved by the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration. They’re very
safe and have been used in food products
for over a century. These preservatives help
maintain the freshness and nutritional content
of MonaVie products.
Strawberry: It is commonly believed that this
fruit was cultivated back in Ancient Rome. In
the 13th century, they were used in France as
a medicinal herb. The most common type of
its kind cultivated today, a hybrid variety from
Europe, is noted for its intense flavor and large
size. The bright red aggregate fruit is rich in
antioxidants and beneficial phytonutrients.
Superfood: Foods with an unusually high
phytonutrient content.
Synergism: When two or more things combine
together to create something greater than
either of them could produce by themselves.
Tart Cherry: Cherries are believed to originate
from Europe and Asia. Today, cherries are
grown all over the world and are known for
their beautiful red color. As a perennial tree
fruit, it is known for its tart juicy pulp and
antioxidant contribution to the diet.
Vitamin K: A fat-soluable vitamin essential
for the clotting of blood, vitamin K also helps
promote strong bones.
White Grape: The ancestors of modern grapes
are all red; white grapes, however, have
ancient origins. Although they are called
“white” grapes, they actually have a green
hue. White grapes contain beneficial
polyphenol antioxidants, such as resveratrol.
Wolfberry: The Wolfberry, also known as the
Goji berry, has been dubbed a Superfruit for
its nutrient content and antioxidant capacity.
Almost half of all the harvested Wolfberries
come from China. With a nutty taste, the
wolfberry is used as dried fruit, and in tea,
wine, coffee, soups, and various meal dishes.
Yerba Mate: A botanical included in EMV
,
yerba mate is native to subtropical South
America in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and
Uruguay. From reports of traditional use, its
physiological effects are similar to, yet distinct
from more widespread beverages like coffee
and tea. Users report a mental state of
wakefulness, focus and alertness.
Yumberry: Native to Eastern Asia, and pos-
sibly Japan and Southeast Asia, the cultivation
of this fruit began more than 2,000 years ago
in Southeast China. The round berry has thin
pulpous columns with a color ranging from
white to a vibrant red to dark-purple. A highly
aromatic fruit, the flesh and pulp is juicy and
sweet, yet somewhat tart with a hint of
sourness. It also contains beneficial
antioxidant nutrients.
The French Paradox: The French have a diet
relatively high in fat, yet have a decreased
incidence of heart disease. This phenomenon
is typically attributed to the amount of
polyphenols present in the grapes used to
make French red wines.
USDA: United States Department of Agriculture.
