FREE RADICALS
A free radical is an unstable compound that your
body is exposed to daily.
Left without restraint, free radicals can damage healthy
cells and are believed to be involved with premature
aging and many chronic diseases.
OXIDATION
In excess, free radicals produce harmful oxidation that
can damage cell membranes.
An example of oxidation is an apple core. Because
it’s been exposed to oxygen in the air, it turns brown.

Free radicals are everywhere and are impossible to
avoid. They are a result of everyday living. They can
be found in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and

Other causes include a high-fat diet, stress, insufficient

VALIDATION STEPS
MonaVie has completed studies in the following three
areas of research and has demonstrated powerful
antioxidant capabilities in all three.
Step one: In Vitro Testing (in a test tube)
When validating a product’s ability to fight free
radicals or antioxidant abilities, identifying its ORAC
value is just the first step. This first step is accomplished
with In Vitro Testing in a laboratory test tube.
Step two: Ex Vivo Testing (outside the body)
In Vitro ORAC Testing is valid, but it only identifies
a product’s potential to fight a specific group of free
radicals. This is not a true representation of what
actually happens in the body. There’s more. The second
step of validation is to do Ex Vivo Testing, meaning
testing of live organisms outside of the body.
Step three: Clinical Human Research
If results are positive for In Vitro and Ex Vivo Testing,
the third step is to conduct Clinical Human Research.
This type of study demonstrates what is taking place in
the body by consuming a particular product.
PHYTONUTRIENTS
Not exactly vitamins, and not exactly minerals,

NATURAL FLAVORS
MonaVie uses natural flavors. MonaVie’s natural
flavors make their products more palatable and bal-
anced by staying true to the natural flavor of the entire
fruit. The natural flavor used in MonaVie Original and
Active juices and in MonaVie Gel is a mixed berry
natural flavor.
GREEN CLUMPS
Kind of like the oil droplets that form when you shake
oil and vinegar together, the green clumps you might
see in MonaVie juice are heart-friendly substances
known as mono and poly-unsaturated fatty acids,
which come from the açai berry. These fats tend to
coagulate or clump together when flash pasteurized.
They are not harmful; in fact, they are very healthy.
Remember to shake the
bottle well before pouring.

Healthy fat content also accounts for why MonaVie
products may sometimes taste or look different. De-
pending on the area of the Amazon and the time of

Açai is a complete protein, meaning that it has all
essential amino acids. But to avoid any confusion, the

According to the American Heart
Association, elevated blood
cholesterol is a major risk factor in

Catechins: Flavonoid polyphenols with an

Kiwi: Originally known as the Chinese goose-

Kosher: Kosher certified foods are foods

Maca: A botanical included in EMV
also known
as Peruvian ginseng, maca is native to South
America and has been used since ancient times
as a staple food crop. Maca has been long
known in folklore for its aphrodisiac and ener-
gizing properties. Maca has a long history of
use as a medicinal plant used by both men and
women to improve a sense of well being.
Manganese: A trace mineral that acts as an
enzyme activator in the human body. Man-
ganese is involved in the formation of bone,
in maintaining healthy nerve tissue, helps to
synthesize fatty acids and cholesterol, helps to
facilitate protein and carbohydrate metabolism,
and helps in the production of sex hormones.
Mono and Poly-unsaturated Fatty Acids:
Healthy fats that lower total cholesterol
and LDL cholesterol. Many nuts are high in
monounsaturated fats, and seafood is high in
polyunsaturated fats.
Natural Flavors: MonaVie uses natural flavors

Phlorizin: An antioxidant phytonutrient ob-
tained from the roots and bark of certain trees

Phytonutrients: Not exactly vitamins, and not
