3. Introduction to web feeds
A web feed (or news feed) is a data format
used for providing users with frequently
updated content. Content distributors
syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users
to subscribe to it. Making a collection of web
feeds accessible in one spot is known as
aggregation, which is performed by an
Internet aggregator. A web feed is also
sometimes referred to as a syndicated feed.
4. Introduction to feeds - RSS
RSS (most commonly translated as quot;Really
Simple Syndicationquot;) is a family of web feed
formats used to publish frequently updated
works—such as blog entries, news
headlines, audio, and video—in a
standardized format.
Three versions 0.91, 1.0 and 2.0
Feed is stored in XML file given by version

5. Introduction to feeds - Atom
The name Atom applies to a pair of related
standards. The Atom Syndication Format is an
XML language used for web feeds, while the
Atom Publishing Protocol (AtomPub or APP) is
a simple HTTP-based protocol for creating
and updating web resources.
A feed contains entries, which may be
headlines, full-text
articles, excerpts, summaries, and/or links to
content on a web site, along with various
metadata.
