5. FUN STUFF Trivia: Michael Winterbottom was the original director of the film. Production had actually begun when he left the project because the Producers demanded the script to be finished prior to commencing Principal Photography. The role of main character Santiago was originally going to be played by Diego Luna but he left to work on other projects. Kuno Becker actually called Diego before he took the role to hear Diego's reasons for not taking the role. Stellan Skarsgard was cast in the film, but when Michael Winterbottom left the project, so did Skarsgard. He stated that: "The only reason I wanted to do the movie was to work with Winterbottom.“Brian Jhonson of AC/DC has an appearance in this film as a Geordie fan. Before AC/DC, he sang in the band "Geordie". The final scene where Santiago scores to win the game against Liverpool F.C. is the actual goal scored by Laurent Robert in real life. It is noticeable that Santiago, a right footed player throughout the movie, shoots with his left foot in this scene.
6. FUN STUFF Goofs Continuity: The shot has been flipped when Gavin Harris scores his first goal against Liverpool. The shirt numbers are reversed - the most obvious is Liverpool's number 21. Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Players in the English Premier League are not allowed to wear jewelry on the field. However, the one exception is jewelry that is of a religious nature... thus, his pendant would be allowed. Continuity: In the Newcastle vs. Chelsea match the color of the ball changes from white to yellow several times. Plot holes: In the story Newcastle have 3 matches left and since they're trying to qualify for a place in a European competition, logically it is the end of the season. Yet, we see that Newcastle sign Gavin Harris around the same time (so that they could win the remaining matches) which is impossible because a club can only sign a player in the summer or winter break. They can sign a player during the season but he would not be eligible to play for the new club.
7. SoundTrack "Acquiesce"Written by Noel Galagher "Acquiesce" is a song by English rock band Oasis, written by Noel Gallagher. The song originally appeared as a B-side to Oasis' first UK #1 single, "Some Might Say", in April 1995. Its popularity led to it being included on the B-sides compilation albumThe Masterplan, released in 1998, after being voted for inclusion by fans of the band on their official website. In 1998, the song was issued as a radio single in the United States to promote the release of The Masterplan. It reached #24 in the US Modern Rock Chart, based on radio airplay. A promotional video for the song was also produced, with images of a live performance at the G-Mex Centre in Manchester, on December 14, 1997. The vocals on this footage were overdubbed from another performance. "Acquiesce" was also released as one of the lead tracks to the Stop the Clocks EP, in promotion of their forthcoming compilation album, Stop the Clocks.[1] A new promotional video was filmed at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, on September 12, 2006, but did not feature the band. Instead, a Japanese look-alike/tribute band played the roles of Oasis. More footage is also understood to have been filmed in Japan, mirroring the idea featured in R.E.M.'s 1995 video for "Crush With Eyeliner." The verses to "Acquiesce" are sung by Liam Gallagher, with the chorus sung by Noel (because, he claims, Liam could not reach the high notes[2]), making it the first song to ever feature both Gallagher brothers on lead vocals. The only other Oasis songs to feature both brothers on lead vocals are "Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is" from their 2000 album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants and "Let There Be Love", from their 2005 album Don't Believe the Truth.
