Sojourner Truth Sojourner Truth was a freed slave who was born in 1797. She was married and had 4 children. She gave speeches and sang hymns for civil rights until she died in 1883. By:  LF. Ruby Bridges Ruby was an African American who went to a white school. The kids did not like that so they left. Ruby changed that and now she has tons of white friends. Jackie Robinson Jackie Robinson was a black baseball player. He was the first African American to play major league baseball. By:  LS. Bessie Coleman Bessie Coleman was the first African American woman pilot. She went to France to get her pilot license. When she returned home she decided to be a stunt devil.  By:  AW. Boys Without Names , by Kashmira Sheth This historical fiction book is about slavery in India, and how people got kidnapped. Slavery is illegal there, but people kidnapped children and forced them to work. Matthew Henson Matthew Henson was an African American polar explorer. He met Robert Peary and they started a expedition. On April 6 1909, Henson and Peary made it to the North Pole. The Journal of Joshua Loper:  A Black Cowboy, by Walter D. Myers Joshua Loper was on the Chisholm Trail in 1871. He died on March 15, 1920. His wife Carrie died on September 2, 1933. Joshua Loper`s journal wasn’t found until his wife died.  The book and the journal are both fiction.
