Plan for Becoming Current with
Assignments
WHAT TO DO IF YOU’RE NOT CURRENT WITH
YOUR WORK IN JOURNALISM
Why is it important to have a plan?
 Remember the saying: If you’re failing to plan, you’re

planning to fail!
 If you know what you need to do each day to get your
work done, you’ll have a goal…right?
What’s the plan?
Open My Grades to see which assignments you have
completed and which you haven’t completed.
Download and open your Assignment Schedule.
 If you have a grade on an assignment, you
know you’ve completed that assignment.
(Remember to read teacher’s comments)
 If you don’t have a grade and you don’t see an
assignment file waiting to be graded, mark
that on your Assignment Schedule as an
assignment you need to complete.
What do I do next?
 Count the number of assignments you need to complete to

become current. (Check your Assignment Schedule…Every
assignment is listed with a due date)..
 Divide the number of assignments you need to complete to
become current by the number of days you have to become
current.
 Example: If you have not completed 6 assignments in
Lessons 1-3 and you have 2 days to finish everything through
Module 3, you must complete 3 assignments a day to become
current!
Working together
 Remember, if you have a questions, send an e-

mail, text me, or call.
 Find me most days in Blackboard IM.
 If you need to instant message with me, text me or
send an e-mail to let me know when you’ll be on the
computer and that you need to instant message about
an assignment and I’ll open Blackboard IM and
message with you.
 Bottom line: Communicate!
What are the reasons to get your work done?
 Mid-term is March 24. Grades will be sent to your school.

 Module 1, Module 2, Module 3, Module 4, and Module 5

must be finished by mid-term. These modules will close
on March 24th and will not re-open. Your mid-term grade
will be the average of your grades in Modules 1-5.
 So….you must complete everything in the first 5 modules
by Monday, March 24th or the zeros you have on that day
will remain zeros.
 Questions? Let me know.
