Basic Installation Guide
Step 1 – Create a Google Analytics Account

 1. Visit http://www.google.com/analytics.

 2. Click Sign In or click on Sign up now to create one.

 3. Enter your Website's URL, a nickname for this account in
    the Account Name field

 4. Enter your Contact Information

 5. The Tracking Instructions page that appears contains the tracking
    code that you'll need to paste into each page of your site.
Step 2 – Configure your profile
1. Go to Website Profiles Table & Click Edit besides the profile
   which you would like to configure.

2. Click Edit on the Main Website Profile Information table.

3. Set Default Page

4. Set track E-Commerce (only for e-commerce websites)

5. Time-Zone

6. Site Search (Query Parameter & Category Parameter)
   e.g.
   http://www.sitename.com/search/search.asp?from=&FrmSear
   chWords=&keywords=keyword+one&x=0&y=0
Step 3 – Add the Tracking Code to Your Pages
         The tracking code should be added on each & every page of your website.
1.    Sign in to Google Analytics.
2.   On Analytics Settings page, find the profile for which you would like to retrieve
     the tracking code. Please note that tracking code is profile-specific.
3.   From the profile's Settings column, click Edit.
4.   On Main Website Profile Information box, click Check Status.
5.   Your tracking code can be copied and pasted from the text box in the Instructions
     for adding tracking section.
6.   Basic installation - Copy and paste the code segment into the bottom of your
     content, immediately before the </body> tag of each page you are planning to
     track.

       Google Analytics will begin collecting traffic data. You'll be able to see data in
                               your reports within 24 hours.
Step 4 – Confirm That The Tracking Code
     Was Entered Correctly On All The Pages

1. Select View Source from your browser's menu and look for the code.

2. It should be immediately before the</body> tag of your page

3. It should look exactly as it was provided to you
Step 5 – Link with your Adwords Account
1. The same Google Account for both your Analytics and AdWords accounts
   should be used and that the login has Admin access on the Analytics account
   OR
   If you haven't used the same Google Account, simply add your AdWords
   username to your Analytics account as an Account Admin

2. Log in to your AdWords account and follow the steps provided under the
     Analytics tab.
i. Log in to your AdWords account at https://adwords.google.com.
ii. Click the Analytics tab.
iii. If you don't have an Analytics account, click the Continue button to sign up
     for one.
iv. If you already have an Analytics account, click I already have a Google
     Analytics account.
v. From the Existing Google Analytics Account drop-down list, select the
   name of the Analytics account you'd like to link to.

vi. Keep the checkboxes selected on this page, unless you're sure you'd like
    to disable auto-tagging and cost data imports.

vii. Click Link Account.

viii. That's it! Your two accounts are now linked.

ix. If you opted to keep auto-tagging turned on, Analytics will
    start automatically tagging your AdWords links for detailed campaign
    tracking reports. They’ll also begin importing cost data from your AdWords
    campaigns for ROI calculations.
Step 6: Tracking Paid Campaign Data From
                   Other Sources
•   Analytics also tracks paid campaign data from other sources apart from
    Google Adwords.
•   E.g. Yahoo Paid Campaigns, Overture, Email marketing (Newsletters) etc.
•   “Tagging” your online ads enables Google analytics to capture the data
•   Tagging involves inserting and defining specific variables into the links that
    lead to your website.
•   Google Analytics offers an URL Builder Tool which helps in generating a
    tagging URL.
