3. About us
“Kids Consult!” -(kids-made), business
group of kids 9-10 years old, helping to
review+give recommendations about
puzzles, books, games, toys, textbooks, vi
deos, curriculums, etc.
Will review draft of one’s work prior to
their publishing it and start selling it, so
maybe they would change it a bit
according to our
reviews+recommendations
4. Our idea
Adults often wouldn’t understand what is fun and
interesting for kids; they’ll only make their toys,
games, puzzles, educational materials, worksheets,
and books how they think it’s good which is very
different from what kids think
Kids know what is interesting for them way more
than adults do
“Kids Consult!” will lessen that problem by telling
adults who are making new things for kids what we
think about their product and how they could
change it to make it better and more interesting
5. Working on the Project
Each member of “Kids Consult!” does their
own job (president, organizer, and science
expert), and in addition also gives
comments and reviews for each product.
Every month, “Kids Consult!” has business
meetings to discuss what projects we had
that month, and what we could improve
on or work towards as well as our future
plans
6. Example of Our Work
The next few slides will demonstrate a couple of reviews
we provided to:
Dr. Gordon Hamilton, Founder of Math Pickle
project, Canada
Rushton Hurley, Founder of Next Vista Learning
project, California
Dr. Bill Marsh, Author of “Land of Lengths” textbook for
young kids, Washington State
We also have some future requests from the Rockville
Science Center (Maryland) to help with the “Kids Corner”
on their website
Our customers were pleased with our reviews and
changed their product according to our comments
7. Math Pickle Comments
General Comments
MathPickle.com doesn’t bring me to the right website.
(Takes me to Godaddy instead)
Don’t sort the books by grade. Instead, tell the age
range (for example 8+ or 5-7 years old).
Make difficulty levels depending on how hard the puzzle
is.
8. Math Pickle Comments (cont.)
Earth Attack Game
Needs a lot more color!
Very hard to understand where to start especially for
younger kids.
Make an online tutorial for how to play.
Very confusing.
Beetle Sort Puzzle
Make the same game online so kids can click around.
Everything else in this game is great!
9. Math Pickle Comments (cont.)
Kajitsu Puzzle
Add a video tutorial online explaining the rules of the game
or make the rules more clear to understand.
This book is fine in black and white.
In the rules, you said that you will have to cut everything up, and I think you
should change that to color or shade in, because I thought cut up meant
actually cut it.
Mimizu Game
We absolutely loved the game!
The puzzles are challenging and really fun.
Add more color to the background of each puzzle because it’s all gray and
makes it hard to concentrate.
10. Next Vista Math Videos
General Comments
Show and explain why we need all those things
It is always interesting to get some historical
background for each topic
Summarize your main topic at the end of the video
11. Video Clip Example –
Collecting Like Terms
Very creative usage of common real life analogy .
Repeating the same thing over again with different
examples makes the message very clear.
Nice to watch because good pace, friendly voice, and
cute little actor.
Explain where and why we need to collect like terms
12. Next Vista Video Clip–Equal Sign
00:27-00:32 (sec) An interesting historical reference to
the person who actually invented a mathematical sign.
00:35-00:42 (sec) Incorrect use of equal sign ( orange
doesn’t actually equal fruit, it is a subset of fruit set)
Confident voice
Good pace
I would recommend adding the history of equal sign
invention
13. Land of Lengths Chapter 1
Comments
Comments
The math content, even though it is basic, is detailed
and not over simplified
The ideas are interesting and presented clearly
The story has just the right amount of entertainment
without being distractingly funny
In all, it is very educational for everyone and is
enjoyable for all ages
Since it’s for younger kids, it would probably be more
interesting if the story was either longer, or just more
energetic throughout the story
14. Land of Lengths Chapter 1
Comments (cont.)
At the beginning, the story is more fun and creative, but by
the end, it gets too mathematical
Too much repetition( for example, “they looked something
like this,” or “this is how they looked like now,” repeats
many times)
Here are some questions: What ages is the story supposed
to be for? Is this going to be part of a book? Is this going to
be an educational material or just a story?
Also, a few grammar mistakes( for example, “the looked
like this”, instead of: “they looked like this”)
In general, amazing!
