How to Show up in a More Powerful
Way Around Money When Your Spouse
Isn’t Interested: Financial Help for
Married Female Entrepreneurs
3. Financial Date®: What if your
spouse isn't ready?
•
What are some pointers I can offer women
who want to have money conversations
with their spouses who aren’t initially
interested or ready to have money
conversations?
•
As women we have a tendency to think that
we can’t do anything around money if our
partner is not interested in participating.
And so this becomes an excuse for us to
not to step up to the plate and show up
around money in our marriage. © 2010 Leslie Cunningham

4. What is occurring in our own personal
relationship with money will often be
mirrored back to us in our relationship
with our spouses.
If we are avoiding money issues in our
personal life, we will be able to clearly see the
ways our spouse is avoiding money in our
marriage. Ironically it’s a lot easier to see it in
our spouses than it is to see it in ourselves.

5. What if your partner isn’t interested in
communicating about money or having
consistent and on-going money
conversations?
•
Why not go ahead and learn about
money on your own?
•
Why not make a commitment to work
on clearing up your personal
finances on your own?
•
Ask yourself, “What am I afraid of?”

6. I want to encourage you to jump right in!
•
Don’t feel like you have to wait for your
spouse to be ready to participate in ongoing
money conversations.
•
By being willing to forge ahead you will begin
to feel empowered instead of disempowered
•
Don’t be surprised if you’re spouse wants to
get involved once they see you making
