Does Your SEO Company have a
       Code of Ethics?

If you don’t take online ethics seriously, it’ll put your website in jeopardy. And the vast
majority of people that consider buying something online will only deal with an ethical
source. Online reputation is important. You want to make sure that you develop a good
online reputation because it will put prospective customers at ease and will help your
business in terms of longevity as well. It’s not only important for prospective customers to
see your website as ethical but it’s important that search engines see it that way as well. If
you are getting help from an SEO company, make sure that they, too, care about
reputation – yours, and theirs. The wrong choice could result in negative consequences
for your site.


Don’t be a Victim of Bad SEO


SEO isn’t always black and white.
There can be shades of grey as well.
It’s important that a company working
on helping you get traffic and create a
great online brand doesn’t blur the
lines haphazardly.


Bad SEO companies often take your
money and run. They promise results but don’t give you much of an indication of how
they’ll get those results. They’re often vague — on purpose.They don’t really care how it
all turns out for you and they aren’t always all that careful about how they deliver. The
wrong delivery approach could hurt your website and result in more harm than good. Be
sure that your SEO company has a strong code of ethics, which includes:


   Offering an ongoing SEO strategy
   Performing Research
   Being Accountable
   Helping you with reputation, marketing, and traffic
   Helping Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. see your site as ethical.

SEO Strategies


SEO isn’t about a race to the top of the search engines alone. It’s about doing things that
will get you there and that will keep you there. An SEO company with strong ethics will
employ diverse strategies to help you cover bases with multiple keyword phrases and
multiple search engines. They will help you devise a strategy that includes many different
proven elements of optimisation. And they will make sure that you use only the recognised
methods by search engines for ―white hat SEO‖ so that you don’t get to the top only to be
knocked off (and maybe even blacklisted) due to unethical SEO methods.


SEO companies without ethics may use grey or black hat methods that might get you in
trouble after they’ve collected their fees and abandoned you. Good SEO companies will
become partners with you and strive to develop a long term relationship with you.


Research


A search engine optimisation company that offers a quick package deal isn’t concerned
with you being able to maintain good and convertible traffic. They’re not researching the
best approach for your business model. Research for keywords, industry, competition,
and locale are all essential.


Accountability


Is your SEO firm going to be there in 30, 60, and 90+ days to answer for how your online
marketing efforts are panning out? Are they prepared to show you how they’ve helped
you and why you’re getting a good return on your investment in SEO? Demonstrating
accountability is a sign of a good SEO company. No one can pinpoint specific guarantees
without gaming the system and putting your company’s standings at risk but a solid SEO
firm will be able to guarantee that you will see good results.
