Positive answers - Empagliflozin
Is safe in high-risk CV with T2DM and improves CV outcomes
Can be used safely in combination with other vascular-
tropic drugs
Can be used for prevention of CVD
Does not increase the risk of euDK or bone fractures
Unanswered questions - Empagliflozin
Is the beneficial effect a class effect?
What are the mechanisms that account for the
potential to reduce CV outcomes?
Is the beneficial CV effect relevant to patients with T2DM
and low CV risk, and to patients with T1DM?
Can empagliflozin be prescribed in acute coronary
settings?
Can empagliflozin be considered an adjuvant
preventive therapy for CVD?
Estudio EMPAREG-OUTCOME
coronario, enfermedad arterial periférica, eGFR < 60ml/min/1.73m2, tabaquismo, IAM
previo.
