- TABLES Section 508 differentiates between data tables and tables used purely for layout purposes, which it calls layout tables. A layout table would not have a table header. Designate row and column headers using the <th> tag. Associate the data cells with appropriate headers. Use proportional sizing, rather than absolute sizing.
