PA SLOs
The SLO in PA is written to a specific teacher
and a specific class/course/content area for
which that teacher provides instruction.
Targeting Growth Activity #1
• Read page one of the article.
• Individually, write a twenty five (25) word summary about what you just read.
• Share your summary with your team.
• Create a twenty (20) word summary as a team. Be prepared to share!
• Text your team summary to ____ & put____ before your response.
• Troubleshooting: Use www.pollev.com in Safari and enter the 6 digit number
along with your response.
• If you are unable to text your response, answer via www.pollev.com on your
computer.
Targeting Growth Activity #2
Read pages 2-4 of the article (6 key elements)
In pairs, pick one thing that “surprised” you the most
about the key elements of a high-quality SLO
Text your “surprise” to:
Put the numbers _____ before your response
Targeting Growth Activity #3
“Why consider SLOs as a
Teacher Evaluation Strategy?” (pg. 4)

Administrators: How do SLOs compliment your vision as an
instructional leader?

Teachers: How can SLOs positively influence your educator
effectiveness rating?.
What questions do
you have?
Let’s break into groups
SLO Template 10.0
Section 1 – Classroom Context
Re-read numbers one and two (page 2, article).

Look at Section 1 of the template.
What questions do you have?
Populate Section 1.
Section 2 – SLO Goal
Identifying Standards
Rationale
Endurance:
Will this standard
provide students
with knowledge
and skills that
will be of value
beyond a single
test date?

Leverage:
Does this
standard
provide
knowledge and
skills that will
be of value in
multiple
disciplines?

Readiness for
the next level of
learning:
Will this standard
provide students
with essential
knowledge and
skills necessary
for success in the
next level of
instruction?

Goal

Should
include
baseline or
trend data.

We’ll come
back to this!
Your turn to populate
Section 2
Section 4 – Performance Measures
What assessments (baseline,
formative and summative) do
you currently have aligned to
the standards you chose?

If you don’t have an
assessment, how might you
choose one?
Your turn to populate
Section 4
Section 3 – Performance Indicators
Expected levels of achievement are related to
performance measures.
They should be specific, measurable,
attainable and realistic.
Will your indicator/expectation be used as
growth or mastery?
Your turn to populate
Section 3
Section 5 - Teacher Expectations

•

Average of all the Indicators in Section 3unless weighted
In Conclusion…

Revisit the
word cloud.

What are
