This document discusses using intercultural literature in the EFL classroom to promote cultural awareness and dialogue. It provides background on interculturalism, noting it has existed since 1959 and refers to supporting cross-cultural dialogue. Intercultural literature can transform culture over time and help develop students' intercultural awareness. It then gives an example of using the Chicano author Rolando Hinojosa's book "Becky and Her Friends" in the EFL class.
