3. Media institution which would distribute my media product!
Mix Mag is a British electronic dance and clubbing magazine, published
in London, England. It styles itself as "the world's biggest selling dance
music magazine", with an Audit Bureau of Circulations audited circulation
of approximately 20,000 (1 January 2011 – 31 December 2011).
Launched in 1982 in the United Kingdom, the magazine covers dance
events, and reviews music and club nights.
Mix Mag’s company is development hell ltd since 2005
Mix mag is a very similar to my product and this would be a good
company for me to distribute with my product.
In 2001, the magazine teamed up with Virgin Records to release a
double album titled B!g Tunes. The album included forty-two dance
songs selected "the best" by the magazine.
Mix Mag has been very successful and my product could follow in these
foot steps.
4. Distribution for my Magazine.
Reasons for Mix Mag:
Advantages:
• The magazine, which reached a circulation of up to 70,000
copies during the height of the popularity of acid house,
was later sold to EMAP Ltd. in the mid-1990s, and then
bought by Development Hell, the company that also owns
The Word music magazine, in 2005
• Its become one of the most popular dance and clubbing
magazine.
• It carries a covermount mix CD each month by a different DJ
or artist. These have included Deadmau5, Richie Hawtin,
Sven Väth, Erol Alkan, Tom Neville, Smokin' Jo, Ferry
Corsten and DJ Touche Soulwax released This Is Radio
Soulwax into the magazine in 2006. from these artists it
shows the height of success.
5. What’s next for my magazine?
Once my magazine has a fan base and the
distribution and consumptions sales are at
a good increase I could focus on bigger and
better things.
For example having a 3 month special CD
not distributing with the magazine but
through high street shops and through
digital sales.
Another idea a dance and clubbing music
channel then developing towards a whole
new radio station if further success creates.
For the magazine if the fan base comes
that demanding and popular it could turn
into a weekly magazine instead of an
monthly one.
