How did you use new media technologies in
1. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
2. Adobe Premier Pro CS5 I used Premier Pro as my key video editing software in the final piece. I found it’s interface to be far more appealing and user friendly when compared to Sony Vegas, and I thought that the verisimilitude in the software package offered by Adobe was perfect, as the interface on After Effects used many similar features to Premier Pro. This meant that in essence once I knew how to do something in one programme, I could apply this knowledge in all the programmes. I also liked the built in effects and transitions in Premier Pro, and the large amount of file types it accepted, when compared with other packages such as Corel and Vegas.
3. Adobe After EffectsCS5 I used After Effects to perform the green screen segment of my music video, as well as creating the introduction credits on my webpage. I felt that After Effects was great at what it did, and the ability to save any actions you had done as a template came in massively useful when creating some of the green screen sections as well as the particle effects in the Chezzvegas studios introduction video.
4. Adobe PhotoShop CS5 After past experiments with Photoshop, I decided to learn how to use to properly, and applied my knowledge of the Adobe suite to another programme. I found that several functions and effects were the same as I was used to in After effects and Premier Pro, so learning the ropes was not too hard. I ended up using Photoshop to develop my 2 ancillary tasks, one of which can be seen here.
5. Microsoft Word & Publisher I created my website using a combination of Word and Publisher. I first typed up the text in Word, and made sure the punctuation and spelling was all right. I then copied the text over to publisher. On Publisher I also used HTML codes to embed videos, and simple web design techniques to make the site aesthetically pleasing.
6. Facebook & Twitter I used Facebook and Twitter to help organise my filming with the cast of the video, as well as for promoting the video once I had finished it. I used Facebook video and TwitVid to share videos with the audience to help gather audience feedback. Facebook also helped me connect with the audience to allow me to gather audience feedback for the ancillary tasks I produced.
7. YouTube & Vimeo Using YouTube and Vimeo I researched a variety of material for the final project. I watched style model videos to gain inspiration for my final piece, and also found a large amount of tutorials for After Effects and Photoshop to help with the designing of the ancillary tasks and the special effects in the main video.
8. Cameras For my music video I decided to use an HD camera, to get the best quality possible in some of the shots. The camera I chose was a Panasonic HDC-SC20, and I feel that using this camera instead of the ones provided by the school opened up some levels of freedom. I was not confined to the length of a video tape, as I had a 32gb memory card, and 1000gb harddrive to store all my shots on, and using the camera myself allowed me to edit at home, and film opportunity shots.
