5 Events of Racism
1) When I was working at the hospital this past week, an African American walked in really fast and
the older lady I was sitting next to said “You never really can trust what those guys are going to
do here.” She was directly labeling them even though she has never met him in her life.
2) I was also working at the hospital in the gift shop where an African American guy was shopping
around and my manager made a comment and told me to “keep an eye out” in case he steals
anything just because he was African American.
3) In a Scary Movie that I watched this weekend, I thought it was interesting that the African
American people are always the first to be killed.
4) I was sitting at McDonald’s with one of my friends and this African American guy walks in. The
guy I was with made a comment and said, “Why did he just give me a weird look? Black people
these days.”
5) I was working at Burger King before I came to college, and every single day when a different race
would come through the drive-thru, my managers would always make fun of the way they
talked or how they spoke.
