2. CHARACTERS
I would like the characters in my
trailer to be relatable to the
audience, I feel this is important
because it allows the story to come
across as more real. Also the
audience will be able to empathise
with the character more because
they have more in common with
them. The main character of my
film/trailer will be of similar age to
those watching.
The characters shown within the
film Annabelle are presented as very
normal and relatable therefor the
audience will be able to believe the
story and their emotions more
personally
3. MISE EN SCENE
For the mise en scene of the trailer I plan to use
low-key lighting as it is fantastic at creating an
atmosphere and tension and will make the
audience more engaged with the story.
Prop ideas: I plan to use props such as Rosary
Beads to bring in the religious connotations but
also simple things that would be found in an
everyday home to bring the initial idea of
normalcy.
This print screen from Annabelle
shows a clear use of low-key
lighting, it allows the audience to be
gripped to the screen and creates an
incredibly atmosphere and tone for
the film.
4. LOCATION
For the location of my trailer I intend to follow my genres conventions
by having the woods as my main location. This is because it creates a
really dark and interesting atmosphere for the scene which is key, and
also the low-key lighting will be more natural as I will be outside. Also
it follows conventions as I can associate this type of location with the
age of the character, will enables to audience to associate with them
easily.
5. CINEMATOGRAPHY
The different shot types that I will use will follow conventions of
horror films. Most importantly close ups and mid shots which help
show the emotions of the characters. Such as in Annabelle they use a
mid shot to show the fear on their faces. This shot would allow the
audience to sympathise with the characters, which is conventional for
this genre.
