1. Q4. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
Evaluation - Charlie Dimbleby
2. Planning and
Research
• YouTube was my biggest help,
• The majority of this I did on my
MacBook Pro
• Google when trying to come up with
ideas
• Searching existing Empire
Magazine covers and existing
horror movie posters and finding
images that inspired me
• I also used Google for researching
the Horror genre as a whole, so I
was able to learn the conventions
of the genre
3. Collected
Research
• Once my research was collected and
collated, I began to write it up on
Blogger
• Storing our work/research online on
Blogger meant we were able to
access it from any location with wifi
or 3G connection
• The Scouting Report, Production
Schedule, Risk Assessment, Shot List
and Prop List were created using Pages
on my MacBook Pro
• I chose this word processor because
Pages allows me to be able to create
tables and insert photos
4. Construction
• Three main softwares were used.
• InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro, all
by Adobe.
• To take the photos for both my ancillary texts
and to film my final product, I used a Canon
EOS 7D
• Used a tripod to make the filming appear
more steady for a few of our shots
• Photoshop, I used the least as I only needed it
for slight photo editing and adding a black and
white effect
• A lot of time was spent using InDesign
• I chose my image, and then added my
desired text and effects
• Editing our final product, our movie trailer, the
chosen software was Premiere Pro
• When we first began editing our footage, I
played around with iMovie considering
using it to create our trailer
5. Evaluation
• 4 main programs were used, Blogger,
Facebook, YouTube and Microsoft Powerpoint
• I used Blogger as a program to display
and write essay style responses
• We utilised Facebook’s large audience range
to get the best feedback possible
• My friends were able to leave their
comments and honest opinions
• YouTube allowed us to evaluate the viewers
opinions and how large our audience may be
• From the likes on the video, any
comments left, and by how many views
there were
• I chose PowerPoint to break up all the writing
and make it more visually appealing and more
enjoyable to read
• Diversification was the reason I chose
PowerPoint, as it retains interest for longer
