Introduction to e-learning in FDS

E-learning
• E-learning is essentially the computer and network-enabled
transfer of skills and knowledge.
• E-learning applications and processes include Web-based
learning, computer-based learning, virtual classroom
opportunities and digital collaboration.
• Content is delivered via the Internet, intranet/extranet, audio or
video tape, satellite TV, and CD-ROM. It can be self-paced or
instructor-led and includes media in the form of text, image,
animation, streaming video and audio.
• E-learning is basically any use of electronic technologies to deliver
or support teaching and learning. This includes 'online learning'
(which some people do use as synonymous with e-learning), but
also includes the use of Powerpoint and data projectors, or even
e-mail
E-learning
First years (53 students)
• More than 60 % students – good at MS office
• More than 50 % students – web browsing
• Almost all – interested in using computers for the
learning process
Second years (60 students) –subject
specific e-learning
• More than 73 % students
“applicability of acquired knowledge in your studies ”is high
• Almost all – “recommend it for juniors”
If this programme can be held at least at
the beginning of 2nd year, it may be very
very helpful to our academic carrier.
Please do it for future junior batches.
Put a notice which indicates those
websites in the CAL unit .
I feel that if we go through these
important sites which are subject related
very helpful to us. So I thank your team
to give valuable information.
It will be very perfect if these lectures
and introductions were done at the
beginning of my 2nd year.
