1) Beginning in Fall 2007, Texas state law implemented a 6-drop limit for undergraduate students at public institutions, where students cannot drop more than 6 courses over their entire undergraduate career. 2) Exceptions to the drop limit include courses dropped due to severe illness, family emergencies, military service, changes in work schedule, or other good causes approved by the university. 3) A new drop form process requires students requesting drops after the census date to provide documentation for excused drops, which are reviewed by administrators to determine if the drop counts against the 6-course limit.
