PG&E Overview
                                                 •    Public utility company providing electricity and
                                                      natural gas to ~15 million people in Northern
                                                      and Central California
                                                 •    Fortune 200 company located in San Francisco
                                                     • $14.8 billion market capitalization
                                                     • Approximately 20,000 employees
                                                 •    Generation Facts
                                                     • Over 14% from eligible renewable sources
                                                     • 13% large hydro and 21% nuclear
                                                     • Less than 2% from coal

  A Brief Overview of Rates and Service Planning




  Time of Use Rates (Overview)
Time of Use (TOU) rates are designed to encourage customers to use electricity at times
where the electrical system is typically less stressed.
Peak is typically between 2PM to 9PM. Off peak is typically between midnight to 7AM. Part
peak would be the other hours.




          Illustrative example of the typical load on PG&E’s system and some potential possibilities for TOU rates and smart charging.

    A Brief Overview of Rates and Service Planning




    PG&E Residential EV Rates
Residential Rates
•    PG&E PEV customers may select one of the residential PEV TOU rates (E-9A or E-9B)
     or may stay on their existing residential rates (E-1, E-6).
    • Whole House Option (E-9A): Serves an entire house load and PEV through a single
       meter.
    • Dedicated Meter Option (E-9B): Utilizes a second meter and dedicated breaker that
       serves only the PEV load.
        •    Requires electrical construction to install panel.
        •    Advantage of having a separate baseline.
•    PG&E has proposed new PEV TOU rates and is awaiting CPUC approval.

Non-Residential Rates
Currently no PEV rate options for customers interested in non-residential charging;
customers must be placed on one of the general commercial rate schedules.

PG&E Service Planning
Process   1 PEV Customer
                                                    Arrange for assessment of
                                                   home wiring by electrician.
                                                     Select level of charging.
                                                 Decide on existing rate or E-9A (1
    6               PG&E                          meter) or E-9B (2 meters) rate.
        PG&E installs a second meter (if
                 requested).                                                2          Electrician
           Reconnects service to the                                              Conducts a home inspection

• Engaged at the California Air Resources Board on the
  Low Carbon Fuel Standard


• Upgrading infrastructure as needed to ensure PG&E
  customers have a smooth charging experience


• Have enrolled over 1,000 customers on EV rates


• Purchasing EVs for PG&E’s Fleet


• Proposed EV demand response pilot
