Directions: Answer the following questions. Hand in the group answers.
1. What is the meaning of myth number 2?
Evaluation automatically determines whether or not my program will be eliminated.
Evaluation is for program improvement not elimination. A common misconception is that
your evaluation needs to illustrate no need for improvement when, in fact, each program
has room for improvement. Ongoing feedback to analyze, understand, and refine your
program is essential.
2. What is the definition of program evaluation?
Program evaluation is carefully collecting information about a program evaluation can
include any or variety of at least 35 different types if evaluation, such as for needs
assessments, accreditation, cost/benefit analysis, effectiveness, efficiency, formative,
summative, goal-based, process, outcomes, etc.
3. What is the meaning of the phrase “breadth and depth of information”?
It means that when we want to make a Program Evaluation we need to have a great deal
of resources to carry out the evaluation; but also it could help us to get more breadth
and depth of information because we need to get as much information about different
aspects of the program that we want to evaluate.
4. What are the names of the major Types of Program Evaluation?
• Goals-Based Evaluation
• Process-Based Evaluations
• Outcomes-Based Evaluation
3. 5. What are some differences between Goals-Based Evaluation and Outcomes-Based
Evaluation?
Some differences we can see between these two types of program evaluations are that:
A goal-based evaluation is mainly helpful to evaluate if you have reached the established
goals, over the fact that you’d been established in an acceptable way those goals, and to
evaluate the effectiveness of those goals during the process, this type of program
evaluation can be implemented to for-profit programs, in addition its main purpose is to
evaluate the extent to which the program is meeting the predetermined goals; while an
outcomes-based evaluation tells you if your organization is really doing the right
programs activities established in the mayor plan in order to accomplish the
predetermined outcomes, one of the main purpose of this type of program evaluation is to
specify what observable measures or indicators will be suggested in order to achieve the
key outcomes.
6. Write an example of open-ended questions and another example of closed question.
An example of open-ended question could be:
Please, Could you describe the steps you follow in order to develop in an acceptable way
the above mentioned activity?
An example of closed question could be:
Do they provide you the necessary tools in order to develop in an acceptable way the
above mentioned activity?
Yes______ No ______
7. Why do you think it is important to set a pilot testing activity on a small group using
the questionnaire?
We think this activity is important because by implementing it first, we can get in a faster
way the results we need to accomplish the major outcomes we want to examine, in other
words this is an easy way to have the results because we’re working with a small group
which it will convey us to obtain the results faster.
