For more than 30 years, Robbins Gioia (pronounced Joy-yah) (RG) has helped

11. What is Twitter?
Twitter is an online social networking site that
enables users to send and read "tweets―—
messages that can only be 140 characters in
length.
• Users post tweets that can be read by both
registered and unregistered users
• Launched in July 2006, the site now has 646 million
users who post 58 million tweets per day
• Users post are professional, personal, or a mix
• Users follow like-minded people such as @IIBA or @BABOK
• You can DM (direct message) those who follow you
• You can share pictures and share links

12. Ready for Twitter?
• ReTweet (RT) - share a tweet with those who
follow you
• Modified Tweet (MT) – retweet, but changed the
tweet slightly
• You can ―quote‖ tweets—meaning you will post
the tweet on your timeline with quotes around it
and your added text to it
• You can use abbreviations freely such as S/O for
shout out
• And you should always use hashtags, which allows you to find information you
need with one search. According to a recent poll of BAs on Twitter, the following
