JOHN PAUL ACADEMY SIXTH YEAR LEADERSHIP PROJECT
Your mission is to  envision, create, develop  and lead a  new  project  to the benefit of the school  and/or the wider community. Your project  will be completed  in small groups.
Prayer Life of the School Religious Life of the School  Links with a Parish Links with a Primary School Charitable Life of the School Academic Life of School Social Life of the School Artistic Life of the School Leading in the Community KEY  AREAS
Reflect on the real needs  of school/community Reflect on your giftedness Dream a vision
FORMAL PROCESS Select your own group of a maximum of 4 people Appoint a group captain to liaise with HT/PK Form objectives and a plan, sharing out responsibilities Put a first-draft proposal paper to HT/PK by date given After discussion with HT/PK, project ready to start immediately Keep up with your individual leadership assessment requirements Prepare a ‘final’ group presentation to HT/PK/pupils/others  on your project, your leadership and your learning
EXAMPLE OF IDEAS Here are some examples given last year– but your ideas will be better: Leading a team to create prayers/PowerPoints for assembly Leading a team to create reflection for week or day for Plasma screen Leading a process to gather and ‘use’ prayer intentions  of pupils and staff Starting, publicising and leading a prayer group within school  e.g. Friday decade of Rosary, 10 minute quiet prayer  before Blessed sacrament Leading school participation at Friday Mass Link with Fr Currie’s Senior Citizens Club Being a leader on year group retreats
EXAMPLE OF IDEAS Begin a leadership project with a primary class/school Start a stationery shop at tutor period/interval:  sell pens & pencils with proceeds going to charity  Start a group in school – e.g. Pro Life, Young St Vincent de Paul, Justice & Peace Volunteer to help as young leader with existing community project – e.g. North Glasgow Disability Forum, Fergus Anderson Organise a Senior School/JP’s Got Talent contest for charity Start and lead a group for pupils – hobby or support group Organise an awareness raising event and lead follow-on interest
REMEMBER For the Higher Award each person in the group will have to take on a clear leadership role for at least one major task. For the Higher Award you will also have to show that you can work together as a team.
