Potential Art Pathways Photography Exploring the use of cameras; different types of camera (digital, SLR, 35mm film, disposable, etc...) Looking at light, matter and composition. Drawing Exploring line and tone, using landscapes to help depict line; continuous line, different types of line, etc... ICT Working with different software to experiment how images can be manipulated.  Exploring different functions of hardware: scanner, graphics pad, etc... Composition Purely exploring composition and cut-off; using a view finder to decide on what to record Mixed Media Experimenting with putting different materials and media together, e.g. Photography and drawing, or painting and drawing Landscapes Doing a whole topic merely on landscapes; looking at landscape artists and experimenting with different media. Just some of the potential ways in which this could be a starting point in art.
Cross-curricular Links Science Investigating erosion, wave patterns, rock formations. Developing photographs the traditional way. Investigating light with photography; changing the sensitivity of the camera, etc... Geography Looking at erosion; how the sea affects land formation. Investigating the area around us more closely through photography and drawing. ICT Working with different software to experiment how images can be manipulated.  Exploring different functions of hardware: scanner, graphics pad, etc... Maths Technical nature of cameras; changing the aperture, zoom.  Rearranging the shapes in the final layouts. PE Linking to sound recordings (in line with where photographs were taken) ; create a dance piece History History of the camera and photography; how it has evolved and become what it is nowadays Just some of the potential ways in which this could be a starting point across the curriculum. D&T Have a go at creating their own pin-hole camera.
