The main central image stands out and can be seen well with the text to image
ratio, this is because the main image of the poster has a similar and good contrast
to the main boarder colours of the product. In my opinion I like the way that the
colours are all similar because it makes it simple but effective. The location of this
shot will be within a studio with a drop at the background to make editing easier
and more professional for the design. The main image is in the center of the screen
and has the center of the shot of the image as the main singer “mise en scene”. The
font used by the artist includes two different designs for the fonts, this is because
the main bold font used is for the artists name and stands out over everything and
has a resemblance to the image size and colouring.
The main colours of this image is a contrast combination of black and white to
make it stand out and be confident. The colours used for this poster makes the
whole post have a dark and down appeal to the audience and makes the cover
seem different to his past production. The main colour of the black tones makes the
feel of the poster feel evil and unhappy, this is because of the resemblance. The
main image alone seems to have a dark and seductive feel to the album and creates
a presents of interest for the watcher/listener. The font of the sub heading of the
poster is lower in size and definition to give the main name and scene to stand out
over everything.
The white boarder surrounding the image and the colouring of the text makes the
image pop and helps the view of the text and shapes to be seen, the contrast of the
black and white works perfectly in this poster, this is because it’s the basic and
most effective most powerful standard combinations. The main audience appeal
for this product will be the artists past songs and other music styles. The major
appeal will be for the change of style and the opening of the music style to make it
new and unique for the specific artist.

For this start of his description and how his work has changed throughout the years I want to specify and explain who the weeknd is,
he is a Canadian singer that has had some tracks that have blown up in his career. At the start of his career his first album to come
out into the music scene is the album HouseOfBalloons, this album has a major mixture of Urban Genres that include R&B, trip hop,
indie rock and pop tunes. After leaving the blow up of his first album he started to do a change in his music with a large
incorporation into dubstep and rock, through out these starting album he isn’t showing his face yet and letting his personality be
part of his album. He then released his album the same year and named it EchoesOfSilence, this album is based upon his last
product and has a variety of different techniques that he enjoys to use and so will I, this is the techniques of having distorted and
different types of sound placed together to make sounds.
Moving into the new year of his production, the weeknd, he started to show me of his personality, this gave the audience a more of
a connection, this connection is something I am aiming to have. This gives the morals of a musician its connections and time of
production. With this new era of his music and personality he brings the slight image of his face looking away showing how his music
means a lot to him and how he has changed as a artist to move more into the music industry. The image of the TRILOGY album
shows that he has a connection to his music and gives it more of a detailed product that has feelings even though he is slanted
down. Moving onto KISS LAND the album moved into the style of electronic music and had a different variety of effects such as
distortion and bass, this is different for the weeknd and has given his a wider variety of products that welcomes a new era of music
for this artist. I want to do something like this also because it is different and unique. He had a break from his product and came
back with a 1* album that created him to have a wider variety of a fan base and opened up many options for him. This album ,
beauty behind The Madness, had a different image compared to the other products because it made the work more personal and
connective because of the music but also his first album to have a full face album cover. This is something new for the weeknd and
creates a more of a personal and better understanding of his album.

Some information about this great musician and song writer. Ed Sheeran was born in
February 1991 in Halifax, England. He began playing guitar at a young age and soon
after started writing his own songs. From this talent for music he decided to pursue
his career by moving to London and signed a record label. From this point he played
hundreds of live shows that gave his experience and confident with playing his
music.
For the first album released that blew up in the UK (+) in 2011, this album sold
millions of copies and gave him the name and look that he has at this moment in
time. These copies sold millions only within the a 6 month period. This album was
recognized and noticed also because of his co-writers Taylor swift and one direction.
From this point with his 1* album he produced another album 3 years later that
produced more great songs and performances this album came with many good
songs including the 1* thinking out loud, this song is a master piece of musical talent
and emotional lyrics. This song and style of music is influencing me to produce a
piece of what that I want to make and that is unique to my own.

Julian Opie is a artist based in England but has done some work
around the work such as America and Ireland. Opie emerged as
an influential figure in the British art scene of the time around
the 1980s producing a series of painted metal sculptures that
humorously combined loosely painted imagery with steel
shapes. He also produces product that have a good and visible
image to the whole world making him a very rare and
committed artist. This is the work I like by him because I like the
images of the cartoonish style that he brings to most of his art
work.
The reason I wanted to produce an existing product slide about
Julian Opie because he has created a massive influence into my
work and he has shown me the designs I want to create and
make into a good and professional product. The style and
imagery that Julian uses makes the product I am making
different and gives it a sight of uniqueness and rarity when
coming with the music style I have produced. The work he
produces with the colours and the line work that make it go
together perfectly. Each piece he has produced has a different
view and sight meaning that each design or drawing is different
for each piece. They work so effectively because the product
seems to have soul to it and that it makes the mix between
living and drawing awake and work in a powerful way.
6. Research Analysis• What common features do the researched products have?
• I will be featuring the way the designs for the album covers and the poster and other
merchandise such as this. I will be taking this inspiration from these products and make the
product different and unique. I want my work to be my own designs and taking the standard
template to the next level. I also want the product to be new to the music scene and the way
my work turns out for the design. A main similarity I see between the products is the way they
have a professional standard of work. I have also seen that a lot of research is into the Julian
Opie style and I have seen what I like and don’t like from his work. I want to take his style and
change it to make it my own for the product style I am aiming for.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your own
production work?
• From this product I want to have a unique and different design of product, this is because I
want the professional side of the design but with a change of thought going towards it, this is
because I want the product to be my own and have no similarity towards the exiting products.
A large aspect of my research I will be including because it has the style and design I like. It is
by the artist Julian Opie, I am taking research from this artist because he creates unique and
different imagery that he produces into art. This type of product is something I am aiming for
and will make happen.

16. Subject Research: Poster
For the subject research of the poster i can see
that like certain indie band designs for the
posters. I like the 3d effect of the laying in the
imagery. I also like the way the colour constract
to make exaggerate the effect of he layering
lines. This type of product is something I want
to include in my production because like the
way the products stand out. I will also want to
use this in future because it works for posters
very well and catching peoples eyes for drawing
effect.
I also like the dripping effect of the poster
because I think it gives the poster some
meaning of the feeling of loose your head by it
melting away. This effect and the layering is
something I really want to include in my
product. I also like the simplistic image of
posters because they create a sense of closure
and a sight of professional.
17. Subject Research: Album cover
For the album covers I want to produce a
product that has a variety of techniques
involved in it such as said in the primary
research. I should include some trippy and
simplistic effects, this is because I think it
would go very well with the other designs of
my merchandise in future. The products I
want to make relating to my albums covers
will be a new and better design to make my
product the best of my ability.
I also want to use a similar technique I have
learnt in the past of layering, this is because
with the technique of laying in album covers
makes the product have a variety of effects
such as 3d imagery of can be blurred.
18. Subject Research: Merchandise
For the merchandise I want to research a
product that has a variety of things such as
the iconic nivana album cover and popular
t-shirt design of the smiley face. From the
merchandise I can see what I like and what
I don’t like, I like the simplistic style with
the contrasting colour.
This is because I want to produce a product
that has the simple but professional finish. I
have also gained that I like the simple
line to create the main image in the center
of the merchandise or any other piece of
product by the person. I also like the bright
colours used in album covers because they
make there imagery pop out over simple
black and white.
20. Practical Research
For this practical research I created
something of a different idea I have had. I
wanted to create something that has a
variety of different personalities in one
image. I created this because I think that if
I gained the skills and ideas from this to
make a better and improved version it
could very much benefit me. I really like
how the colours contrast. I gained the idea
for this by having the view of the melting
head album from recent research. For this
product i used a variety of tools in adobe
photoshop.
Tools:
• Cutting tool
• Paint tool
• Pencil tool
• Layering
21. Practical Research
For this practical research I took the
orignal design of the first experiment and
I designed how I would want to have the
merchandise for the cap and t-shirt
design. I like how I have created my
layout because it give the design more of
a meaning with the placement. I have
placed the logo in the center of the cap
to have the best angles of the product
and also I have placed the logo in the
center to be visually pleasing for it to be
semetrical and all aline.
Tools:
• Cutting tool
• Layering
• Cropping tool
22. Practical Research
For this product experiement I decided
to stick with the simple but effect
technique because I wanted to see how
basic I could keep it with a large amount
of effects. I did this because it has given
me the chance to improve my skills using
different softwares such as photoshop
and fire fox. For this practical research I
had added certain layers in certain parts
to make the colours pop out. I added the
black background for this reason.
Tools:
• Photofox
• Photoshop
• Cutting tool
• layering
23. Practical Research
For this product I have produced I like
how I have put the background layer as a
space effect and having the main frontal
image to be bright and to have a cartoon
effect for a eye catching effect. For this
experiement I have decided to produce a
new band posteer and I have done that by
taking the image my self and I liked the
end result. What I will take from this
product will be that I will make my own
cartoon effect rather than using the
simple filter effect to make the image pop
out.
Tools:
• Photofox
• Cutting tool
• layering

Undertaking practical research is another great way to improve your project. Experimenting with techniques, equipment and processes you might want to use in you project will help you plan for the future.
Think about what you will research. It could be studio photography, or sound recording, or post-production techniques for video or animation techniques for a video game. Tutorials are useful here.
Make something similar but unrelated to your chosen idea.
Do not make it a version of your final product; it is an experiment
Provide a reflection of the processes you used and how it has been useful.
Don’t do something that you already know how to do.
