In an article by Arnett (2008), he makes the assertion that American research psychologists are
relying too heavily on research results that do not generalize to the majority of the population of the
world. Primarily, his two points include; the predominance of American authors and editors found in
American Psychological Association (APA) journals and how American research results do not
consider cultural variation (Arnett, 2008). Arnett (2008) assumes that American psychologists rely
heavily on research findings gleaned from sampled populations, as applicable to behavior of all
human beings. Evidence used to support the claim of the author included an analysis of six APA
journals encompassing a twenty–year time frame from 1988 to 2007 (Arnett, 2008). Findings from
the analysis showed American authors made up a vast majority of published studies and particularly,
undergraduate study samples were used most often (Arnett, 2008). Additionally, Arnett (2008) found
the editors of the APA journals were nearly all associated with American research universities.
Overall, Arnett (2008) makes a convincing case of American psychologists neglecting most of the
world's population with their research findings. However, his view of this topic is skewed and is
evident with his exclusion of relevant information.

Critical Analysis: "Why Education Is Not an Economic Panacea" "The advice we would offer every
halfway intelligent young person with a pulse–go to college–is not, I argue, counsel we can offer a
whole generation of young people" (Marsh p.6). John Marsh explores in his article "Why Education
Is Not an Economic Panacea" the correlation between income inequality and lack of higher
education. In doing so he finds that education alone may not be a cure all for the problems faced by
many low income families. Marsh shares what he had learned through his experience teaching
impoverished students and how it is wrong to assume that education will positively effect someones
financial outcomes. Marsh intends to open peoples minds to addressing problems such as poverty
that may be the reason for a lack of education rather than assuming that deficiencies in education are
to blame for the problem. I believe that what Marsh is advocating is a "living wage" for people in
jobs that do not require a degree and he thinks that doing so will solve the problems of economic

Stay–at–home mothers are discriminated against in many ways. Stay–at–home mothers might be
considered "lazy" for choosing to stay at home and take care of their child instead of going back to
work immediately. Even if a mother is planning on going back to work after a while, she still isn't
treated the same as women without children. In "Confessions of a Stay–at–Home Mom," Ashley
Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a woman has a child can be bad, women with
children may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted. I agree with Nelson that
taking time off work can be bad, mothers may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be
promoted because taking off of work can cause women to get out of the routine of working full time
and we may not be able to do our best work as soon as we return.
Ashley Nelson's article, "Confessions of a Stay–at–Home Mom," is about mothers and what they
should do about work when they have a child. Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a
woman has a child can cause her to not be offered the same jobs or benefits as a non–mother or
male. "Labor statistics show that while full–time working women without children earn 7 percent
less than their male counterparts, women with children earn 23 percent less" (Nelson 413). She also
states that mothers are less likely to be promoted than women without children. "The sense is that
employers, consciously or not, demote mothers, assuming they cannot live up to the hours and
demands of the work–place" (Nelson 414). Nelson also argues that women should keep some kind
of a job after having children because they will be much more likely to get a new job or get their old
job back with more benefits, better hours, and better pay.
Nelson argues that taking a lot of time off of work after having a child can be bad. Nelson states that
"even minor career breaks have dire economic consequences" (413). This means that by leaving a
career, even for just a couple of years, can have bad consequences. I believe that Nelson is correct

"Laugh often, Dream big, and reach for the stars!" by Don Williams. Many people don't like to step
out of their comfort zone. Instead they like to stay in their shell and hid. In my life I like to
adventure and step out on something fun, new and interesting. One thing that I have tried lately is
repelling, it is where you use a rope to pull you down something. In my class we used a rope and our
bleachers, it was great but most people were nervous. Before we were able to do this we went
through the basics and we repelled on a smaller and easier wall. Basics are important so that we can
know what needs to be achieved in the grand scheme of things. I was able to learn that repelling
helps you understand the importance of safety and the thrill of falling and holding your life on one
rope. Importance of safety can help you in repelling with not falling to your death. In repelling you
have one rope that you are pulled with to lower you to the ground. The first things you need to do is
secure you rope to your harness. These two items are what help you to not completely fall to the
ground. One important tip is, what to do to pull yourself to the ground, you must slowly release
from the rope in your hand. After doing this inside we moved to a more higher and intricate place,
where you would really need to know what you were doing. As did the basic going back first i
moved to falling face first. This was a more complicated and scarier type of repelling. But for me to

Universal Basic Income Advantages And Disadvantages
Universal Basic Income (UBI) is a fixed amount at a level sufficient for subsistence, given by the
state to all its citizens regardless of income or work status. Recently, it has sparked a heated debate
among many cities around the world on whether to give their citizens a Universal Basic Income.
Though some people disagree on the idea that a country should give a UBI to its citizens, the policy
of giving a UBI to citizens has many advantages which have been shown by the benefits of a UBI
implement in Finland. A UBI can help to give the following benefits of a country: a continuous GDP
increase, a more harmonious community, and scientific advancement. First of all, adopting a UBI
can increase economic development by stimulating consumption. A UBI gives money to citizens
without concerns about their status. It'll lead to an increased income for the poor so that they will
buy more high–quality food, select more expensive clothes, and even have a new car per person.
Those things are impossible before the implementation of UBI. As for others, they'll have more
money to spend on their hobbies and vacations which will subsequently encourage them consume
more. For example, If I receive UBI now, I will save my extra money given by government for
several months and plan to use it go to Hawaii on a vacation. I'll buy round–trip airline tickets to
Hawaii, eat special food, book a hotel, and buy some souvenirs from Hawaii. The airline company
will make more profit for serving me,
