Web & Social Media Analytics Previous Year Question Paper.pdf
How effective is the combination of your part 3
1.
2. My A2 media studies required
me to make a short 5min film to
go together with an ancillary task
which was to make film poster
and magazine review film. I took
a lot from the soap and drama
genre, whilst researching key
codes and conventions.
3. After researching and annotating a real film poster the
purpose of a poster became clear to me and the purpose is to
advertise the film through the title not a moving image.
Trailers consist of a series selected shots from the film being
advertised. Since the purpose of the trailer is to attract an
audience to the film, these excerpts are usually drawn from
the most exciting, funny, or otherwise noteworthy parts of
the film but in abbreviated form and usually without
producing spoilers
4. Below are two links to trailers

5. Each trailer id completely different in term of there structure, EastEnders
clearly was about multiple storylines that a key within the current slate,
where as children of men was about “why women cant have babies”
which is the main plot line throughout.
Something that I didn’t notice that was evident from viewing them both
was they both have a narrative voice over almost explaining the story.
The reason I haven't got a narration over the top is because I have no
dialogue in my film.
The two trailers do have elements on mystery and climatic points. I did
take this into consideration when making my own.
Something that was obvious that the two trailers done differently was
showing the climatic points children of men was very visual when
showing there points of climax, however I feel as if EastEnders what
more aural and there climatic points came through the narration.
6. As you can see below I've taken 6 key moments in my trailer that inspired me
from real media products.
7. First point of climax. Arguably this is the
fist point of climax in my trailer as well as
in my final products. It’s the first real
indication what my narrative is about.
Colour- orange and red are often colour
associated with warning and danger these
are very important in “warning” the
audience my character could possibly be
in “danger”.
Framing/composition. –The objects are centre of the frame so they are easily
identified. You can also see it’s the only thing in shot which also helps it stand out
8. I decided instead of a narrative voice over I would include so form of text.
I still wanted let the viewers to who was in the film so it could inherit some sort of
audience.
9. This frame is the first clear indication
we see of “Kayleigh” in danger.
We don’t actually know how she got
there which adds a sense of mystery,
this sense of mystery will hopefully
engage my target audience.
10. In this shot it the first and only clue of the
full extent to how much danger Kayleigh
is in
The words “A DAYTHATWILL CHANGE
EVERYTHING” forms a unsettling and
nerving ambience its also show just how
serious Kayleigh's position.
11. Appearing at the very end is my title
“ I N F E R N O ” The font type is the
same as the font used throughout my
film, therefore letting the viewers to
identify a match.
The fist thing to think of when you see
the word “ I N F E R N O ” is a film about
a large fire that is dangerously out of
control, however if the audience are
able to make the links they may soon
see it about an explosion.
The name is suggestive of hell,
especially with respect to human suffering or death which Kayleigh does.
