 The hypothalamus in the brain regulates body
temperature
 During Menopause hormonal imbalance can
cause the hypothalamus to send out
messages to the body to get rid of heat even
though core temperature has not changed
 By providing a rapid cooling ‘shock’ to the cold
temperature receptors in the skin, messages
are transmitted to the brain that trick the
hypothalamus to reset itself thereby cutting
short the hot flush
