CONTEXT AND EVOLUTION
CHALLENGES FOR RTE :
Changes on the generation side :
gas, renewables + nuclear plants (EPR)
Ageing of the existing network
Limited public acceptance for new
overhead lines
Projects for new EHV links with the
surrounding European TSOs
AS A RESULT :
NEED TO OPTIMIZE THE NETWORK PERFORMANCE
AND TO ASSESS NEW TECHNOLOGIES/PRACTICES

KEY OBJECTIVE FOR 2009
DEVELOP EMTP-RV MODELS FOR EXISTING AND FUTURE
COMPONENTS IN THE FRENCH NETWORK
Develop HVDC models : LCC (Thyristor-based) and VSC (IGBT)
Generic models for early system studies
Detailed models for each HVDC system
Assess the validity range of OHL, cable and transformer models
Depending on the study type : steady-state, transient overvoltages…
Develop EMTP models for wind generators (generic and detailed)
Input data in the (existing) models for RTE’s needs
How to parametrize the models from available data ?
Build and validate librairies for existing equipment in the RTE network
Surge arresters, transformers, CTs and VTs, CB, etc…
