4. "Cloud Computing" is moving resources off of your physical hardware and
network into a provider's hands.
They can either deliver software as a service or infrastructure as a service
Infrastructure - Virtual Machines, Data storage
Softwares - Programs like GMail, Google Drive, etc.
Most of the computation is done by more powerful systems connected
over the internet and the result is fed back to the user machine.
Hence saves time and expense on more powerful machines.
Offers great freedom and provides advantages on technological,
managerial and economical frontiers.
WHAT IS THE ‘CLOUD’?
6. 1970s - IBM developed the VM Operating System to provide
time-sharing services.
HISTORY OF THE CLOUD - THEN AND NOW
1990s - Telecommunications companies began offering virtual
private network (VPN) services
1999 - Salesforce.com which pioneered the concept of
delivering enterprise applications via a simple website.
2002 - Amazon Web Services; provided a suite of cloud-based
services including storage,
2008 - Microsoft Azure is released
2009 - Web 2.0; Google and others started to offer browser-
based enterprise applications.
8. Storage
Solves logistic problems with sharing or storing huge files.
Services provided by Google, Microsoft, Dropbox among others.
APPLICATIONS AND USES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
Cloud Software
Running applications on the internet without needing to install them.
PaaS for Web Applications
Permits designers to develop applications for the web without needing
to worry about servers
eCommerce
Helps online retailers by providing efficient and powerful servers to
handle sales.

THE WATER CYCLE
● The droplets : It uses cluster based file system like the GFS , HDFS.
● The Clouds structure : Relational or Non-relational databases like the Cloud
SQL and Datastore.

15. GOOGLE CLOUD PLATFORM
Google Cloud Platform
is a set of modular
cloud-based services
that allow you to create
anything from simple
websites to complex
applications.
