Dr. Brian Shmaefsky is currently a professor of biology at Lone Star College – Kingwood, near Houston, TX and coordinates the college's service learning program. He has been at the college since 1992. His research emphasis is in environmental physiology. Dr. Shmaefsky attended Brooklyn College of CUNY, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, and University of Illinois. Dr. Shmaefsky previously worked as an industrial biochemist at Sigma Chemical Company and was a professor of biology at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
