RISE with SAP
New SAP customer journey to the Intelligent Enterprise
Riding the wave of transformation is a prerequisite to succeed in a global environment. At the same time, companies are facing several drivers for transformation. Staying on top of the game is pivotal for the success of any global business.
On one hand, economic transformation programs and digital transformation initiatives from governments have paved the way for regulatory changes that businesses must adopt. On the other, businesses need to adapt to unprecedented changes and disruptions while focusing on positive factors such as sustainable business practices.
In addition, companies need to address emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and blockchain and find ways to leverage them to find the best opportunities for their businesses.
Spearheaded by innovators and disruptors, and fueled by technology - entire industries are being transformed - and the lines between them are blurring. While the transformation is driven by a small number of industry leaders, it is changing the rules of business success for the entire industry.
Therefore, virtually every organization in the world is experiencing drastic shifts – that go much beyond the recent volatility:
Customer’s expectations of products, services and the experiences, are higher than ever before. At the same time, employees demand more transparency and strive for more value-adding roles. Running a more sustainable business and living up to corporate responsibilities is becoming an absolute must – and none of it can come at the cost of operating margin because shareholders are hungry for even better results.
As a consequence, more and more companies are on a constant journey to reinvent themselves – in terms of the products and experiences they offer, their way of unlocking new sources of revenue and enter emerging markets, their understanding of efficiency and productivity as well as the role their customers expect them to play in facing and solving environmental and social challenges.
Recent years and success stories make it obvious – business success in this changing environment belongs to those, who can adapt the fastest – and achieve leadership in three dimensions.
Let's take a look at what this means in greater detail.
This slide explain in details the scope of RISE with SAP and it’s applicable for S/4HANA Cloud both public and private editions
We don’t recommend presenting this to customer but it will help answering customer questions regarding the scope
Some scope limitations:
- SAP process insights: can be installed and provisioned to both S/4HANA Cloud both public and private editions. However; it’s currently integrated only with S/4HANA PCE and on the roadmap for S/4HANA Cloud (Public) in H1 2022
- LBN – Logistics Business Network: can be installed and provisioned to both S/4HANA Cloud both public and private editions. However; it’s currently integrated only with S/4HANA PCE and on the roadmap for S/4HANA Cloud (Public) in 2022 (requires Transportation management)
Opps. I forgot to mention that RISE's consumer freebies and added value are a never-ending story.
Another list of free subscriptions can be found here:

Finally, as part of the SAP enterprise support agreement, the use of Tricentis for SAP products test automation is covered.
The target customers by this presentation are:
Net New customers
Installed base customers looking for green field implementation and fine to go with S/4HANA cloud public
The flow of the presentation is designed in a way to take the customer through multiple steps and build the final customer journey to transform their business and leverage each product and tool included in RISE at the right time and right step through the journey
First step for NNN customer we don’t have or don’t know the detailed of current business processes as it may be implemented on non-SAP systems or even on in-house developed applications or even manually
the best way to start is to show customer the best practices for each business process SAP Best Practices Explorer
And also show the customer how DDA - Digital Discovery Assessment can guide the customer to define the right scope for the implementation of S/4HANA Cloud
Here you list down what type of information that customer can gain from The Digital Discovery Assessment and Best Practices Explorer and how that help the customer to make the right project plan based on a true scope needed by customer and
Customers love to see example of business processes Best Practices – as a valuable input to help them design their new business process
DDA is the tool that provides a proposal for the S/4HANA cloud scope to customer based on the answers collected from customer
With the help of SAP Best Practices Explorer and Digital Discovery Assessment, customer will be able to define the right scope for the to-be business processes and accordingly define the right transformation project plan
And the decision to go for S/4HANA cloud (Public)
Note: this is the only product in R|ISE with SAP S/4HANA that customer has choice between public or private edition and all other components are included by default regardless of selected deployment option

The dialog should focus on the value of the decision going for S/4 cloud public:
S/4HANA cloud (public) is the first component of RISE
It’s pure SAS offering
It has different value dimensions for every stakeholder in the company
This is the first step of the journey to decide on the business process
With RISE products NN customers can design their to-be business process using With SAP Process Manager by Signavio and SAP process collaboration Hub by Signavio and put the right model and exchange thoughts and ideas with key stakeholders
Step #2, customer to install and setup the digital core (we made the decision early to go with S/4HANA cloud public) and we have explained he value proposition in slides 11 and 12
Step #3, adding BTP
in some cases
Customer would like to integrate S/4H with other 3p products
Customer need to communicate digitally with another party or government
Customer would like to use partner developed or own customized applications
The answer for all the above scenarios is use BTP – Business Technology Platform
Share the listed benefits of BTP and how much it opens the door for extended value that go beyond S/4HANA
Step #4, add the business network to the core business processes
If we step back and look at the global economy, it has really evolved into a network economy.
As companies have focused on their core competencies, they have looked to partners to provide complimentary business process , services and capabilities.
Examples include:
The use of contract manufacturers in the hi-tech industry
Supplier networks that can be 3 or more tiers deep
Logistics service providers to move goods around the world
Maintenance providers to support after sales service for goods
Service providers that provide contingent staff to supplement your workforce
And as products and devices get smarter we even get networks of things that can share information on how they are performing or being used
Companies are leveraging their network of partners to meet mounting market and pressures for new business models and growing customer demands for innovative and sustainable products delivered when, where, and how customers want them.
But while we want to outsource, we also desire to have full visibility and control on the complimentary processes so that they can be sure that they can deliver on the promise to their customers.
So we need to:
Understand our supply network beyond just tier-one suppliers
Collaborate with manufacturing partners and asset service providers in a manufacturing or asset network and outsource transportation to third-party providers in a logistics network
Serve our customers through distributors, resellers, wholesalers, or retailers in a demand network
These companies’ supply chains are truly dependent on their network of partners.
The traditional, linear (and from a collaboration perspective) fragmented supply chains that are optimized for efficiency no longer work in this economy.
A networked economy calls for a networked supply chain that is resilient, agile, and flexible.
COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for customers to build such business networks.
When a customer decides to introduce S/4 - in 99% of the cases they will review and re-design their processes incl. procurement. Think about the constraining part in the process design. Within your company, you can design whatever you want. It is your company. The key constraint is your external trading partner, that’s why it is a MUST to think the trading partner capability , yet collaboration ALONG with the internal process design. If the customer doesn’t do this the entire process is non optimal from the beginning. From this process thinking it’s only a minor step to technology, because you also have to understand your future trading partner collaboration capability.
180 million business transactions flow through the network every year
$3.3 million in spend is transacted on the network and 90 new companies join the network every hour
RISE Targets = 1,700 S/4 Private Cloud
We have explained in the previous slides the importance of business networks
RISE offer 3 networks that touch core processes
Ariba network – used during sourcing to collaborate with supplier
SAP Asset Intelligence Network – to collaborate with assets stakeholders from manufacturer, to operator to maintenance agency…etc.
SAP Logistics Business Network – track your products shipments to customers through the collaboration with freight forwarders and carriers
This is just transition slide
Step #4.1
Adding Ariba network
Ariba network is a win-win game
Where both your enterprise as well as suppliers gain benefits
Enterprise would like to:
Increase saving from procurement costs
Improve company cash position to use in other opportunities
Better insights in the process
Reduce the risk and have better planning and forecast
The supplier:
Increase fulfillment rate and score higher as customer satisfaction
Improve visibility to customer inventory levels
More automated process
Accelerate the onboarding for new customers
We deliver a baseline configuration to get your SAP S/4HANA cloud system connected to the Ariba Network and configured
Step #4.2
Adding AIN
Increase Asset Performance, Reduce Maintenance Costs and Deliver Service Excellence
Current Challenges:
Lack of common taxonomy
No standardized model
No collaboration
Asset Information in silos
Lack of asset data integrity
Inefficiency master data update
What happens if there is an update of the specifications?
And what about issue a new service bulletin?
What happens if the manufacturer want to access to the usage and sensor data to improve his product?
>>>>>>NO COLLABORATION APPROACH
With AN With a single version of truth
Step #4.3
Adding LBN
LBN is an important offering for customers shipping products to their customers
It works on top of transportation management (that explain why it’s not yet ready for S/4HANA cloud, public). On the roadmap for 2022
It offers the right level of collaboration and the needed insights with carriers and fright forwarder
Step #5, add SAP cloud ALM …
This is not only important during the transformation project but also during the go-live and productive operations
SAP Cloud ALM gives customers the power to detect problems including automated alert management and automated corrections
Customers are empowered to understand the healthiness of their solution and the efficiency of their operation
Provides end-to-end transparency for users, integration, applications, and business processes
Detect anomalies, and enables both LOB and IT users to identify disruptions and react to them
Determine root causes of issues, and allows root cause analysis on technical as well as on business process level
Enables operation automation by event driven or regular triggered operation flows Avoid anomalies by automating regular tasks
Step #6, adding launchpad service….
Facing the reality of a diverse and complex landscape:
various systems and repositories
Heterogenous (SAP and third-party)
various UI technologies
hybrid setup cloud + on premise
multi-channel (internal, external, mobile)
Explain what’s it?
establish a central point of access to SAP, custom-built, and third-party applications and extensions, both in the cloud and on premise.
SAP solutions (cloud & on-premise)
Custom-built apps & extensions
Third-party solutions
Step #7
Infrastructure and operations
We have 3 options for infrastructure:
SAP DC: this always the default for S/4HANA cloud. SAP make the optimum choice for a complete SAS platform
Hyperscaler DC: it provides 4+1 options for customer subscribing to S/4HANA cloud, private edition (hyperscalers: MS Azure, Google platform, AWS, Alibaba in china)
Customer DC: offered for special cases a. regulated industries b. public sector c. countries with data residency
With S/4HANA cloud, public we offer the lowest TCO through a complete SAS offering
With RISE customer get, one contract (exclude the implementation services) and one set of SLAs (99.7%) for every individual product included in RISE
Step #8
Essential step to succeed with your business transformation is to enable your people and make the necessary steps towards handling the change management within the organization
Step #9
Process improvement is a continues task and that explain why we close the loop here back to BPI
One of the limitation we have is SAP process insights as part of RISE BPI/Signavio starter pack comes only with one time data load. So, if the customer would like to use this more than time then an additional license has to be purchased. Customer must license 8011443 material code which will add an additional 50GB (total of 100GB: 50GB from 8011ABC + 50 GB from licensing 8011443) to their environment all with no load restrictions
Important note:
Currently process insights is not yet integrated with S/4HANA cloud public and only with PCE. So, BPI/Signavio starter pack can be used to model and design new business processes whenever required by business
Once integration with S/4HANA cloud, public becomes available, then a continues process review, deep dive and implementation of corrective actions can be as follows:
Get fast insights on:
Process performance across different lines of business and end to end processes
Master and configuration data
Degree of automation
Internal benchmarks
Relevant SAP S/4HANA capabilities and their value
Dive deeper:
Analyze processes in more detail
Identify inefficiencies
Drill down to the affected business objects
- Clean up your system: Use correction recommendations for master and configuration data
Stay on top of your performance:
Leverage the live data connection and frequent updates to monitor your processes performance
- Keep improving: Make use of continuously updated improvement recommendations, both for corrective actions, and for SAP product investments
Intelligent enterprises transform entire industries by driving strategic outcomes across the value chain. They have the ability to establish consistent leadership in top line, bottom line and green line, allowing them to:
Seize opportunities
