If you want to find eye catching pictures to use in your blog posts or training materials you need royalty free stock images or pictures released under a creative commons license. In this slideshow I'll take you through the steps for finding pictures that use the flickr creative commons license using the flickrCC.net image search engine.
3. 2. Enter your search term
Use single words to begin with
Narrow the search by adding more terms
Leave 'For editing' checked to allow cropping etc.
Select 'Commercial' if you're going to sell the image”
or use it for advertising copy
4. 3. Click on a thumbnail
Choose a thumbnail and click
on it
Or load 30 new images using
the 'next' link
This will load the attribution in
the next panel...
5. 4. Select your image size
The links below the image load
different sizes into the browser
The 'Medium' size is usually all
you need for a blog post or web
page
You can click on the image title
to see the original on flickr
6. 5. Edit the image (optional)
If you left 'For editing' selected when you started the search you can now
click on the 'Edit' link to open an on line image editor...
7. 6. Save your image
Right click on the image
Select 'Save Image As' from the
pop up menu (actual words may
vary depending on the browser
used)
Name the file
Remember where you saved it!
8. 7. Copy the attribution text
Select the attribution text (left click and drag over the text)
Right click the selection and choose 'Copy' from the pop up menu
9. 8. Upload the image to your blog and add the
attribution text:
