This document outlines seven rules for connecting corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy to a brand: 1) Know thyself - fit CSR goals with business goals and link to brand story; 2) Campaign with substance - show company values through actions; 3) Be consistent - communicate brand image through all aspects of the company; 4) Simplify messaging - use simple messages that transmit values easily; 5) Work from inside out - practice CSR internally by taking care of employees; 6) Know your customers - show how CSR benefits customers' interests; 7) Stress the positive - communicate how CSR benefits society.
